It is quite incredible that they have people who consider themselves rational believing that nonsense.
History will remember Boris’s premiership as overseeing:
- the most corrupt British government for a century
- the least honest British government, in and out of the House, in at least that period
- the design and implementation of a Brexit deal that delivered serious, material economic damage to the country for at least a generation.
He’ll be considered in time one of the worst Prime Ministers in British history, and if the Tories don’t think there’s a better option amongst their ranks, they’ve got spectacularly serious issues.
right wingers dont want to debate, they just want to ignore the alterative to their argument because in their eyes there's no middle ground.
i can understand the left loses their patience with this tactic and some resort to name calling. not a good look but understandable.

It's rather amusing how people like you, Ignacio, Assain & others consider yourself to be the morally superior because you perceive me to be a Tory "arrse licker" and yet you are the most offensive and insulting. Tories are seemingly such hateful people and yet here you (& others) are dishing out abuse and hate.
Reasoned opinion met by posters such as yourself with insults and abuse....hardly on the high ground really when you lower yourselves to personal insults and abuse.
It doesnt bother me. I'm old enough, grown up enough and intelligent enough to rise above such behaviour which reflects far worse on the perpetrators. I am happy to debate with people who share alternative opinions. I am not wed to one way of thinking, but with those who refuse to accept or debate differing views and respond with abuse, there's no point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's pointless trying to reason with mince, I believe that is set up to be the benchmark for a lack of intelligence by some on here. I'd have opted for offal myself, but hey, whatever.
Always amuses me how the very ones decrying others for intolerance are the loudest exponents with there own jaundiced views of the world.
Floating voter me. Voted for them all (the main 3 parties) at one point or another. Depends on the options and manifesto mostly at that time. It's just my opinion dude. Its not BS. A vote of no confidence is about more than just whether the current PM is good enough, its looking beyond to another potential leader, someone strong enough, someone popular enough, someone to unite.....Yes there are more honest MP out there than Borisw but that does not make them ideal candidates for PM.
Anyway, this is politics. MPs will be voting tactically, will be considering timing and strategy. They might not think now is the right time and where there is no standout replacement then best to bide their time. We all know if a party wants rid of someone then that can be put in motion at the appropriate time. My view is that currently most MPs, regardless of what they think of the PM, will not view now as the right time....those with a stronger conscience will be voting against Boris even if it damages the party, but most will put the Party first

My comment based on the world, or my part of it, in general. I find there's intolerance to other views both ways in terms of political outlooks. Shame really, i used to like reasoned debate on viewpoints - often been convinced to think away from my default, if the point is well made (in my opinion).
Just think the last few years too much is polarised .... I agree with Leedsmont to a large extent - the middle ground seems a distant memory.
Oh and for the purposes of this thread - Boris needs to go. Don't like, trust or believe the guy - or many of the cronies he surrounds himself with.

It baffles me that people say alternative is rubbish.
How much more rubbish can it get?
Lies, corruption a country with more children in poverty than ever, people not being able to afford food or heating. That’s before you get on to the actual mess this government have made of schools, highest taxes since the war. The list is endless
But the Murdock owned media keep telling you the alternative is worse.
It isn’t. You are fed lies and have fallen for spin and propaganda.
It cannot get worse.

He basically just said ' keep Boris in because there is no alternative'. And i said that not true though is it because there are hundreds of alternatives but somehow what he said is a level headed, well response?
I think the worst thing about current politics is the people making completely irrational statements, then doubling down on it when challenged before acting like they are being bullied for being reasonable when told what they said is stupid.

No i didnt and you have completely misunderstood the context of this as a leadership thing. It's not a GE, we dont have a say here, Tory MPs will vote & their votes will be based on many influences - internal party politics, their own careers and aspirations, other strategies, and may be, just maybe, some will vote purely on their conscience and what they think is right....BUT as this is politics we are talking about I fully expect the majority to stick with Boris because to get rid now is not the right time for the party to make such a change.
If Sunak had not had the who wife tax thing, then may be he could be seen as a credible leader, but his growing stock was clearly undermined internally to stamp out any challenge he might pose.
If you cannot understanding the scheming, the strategies, the different factions, the plotting, the lobbying, the egos, the aspirations etc that influences a vote like this then you fail to understand politics and politicians. This is not just about whether there's a more honest person out there than Boris, of course there is but that is not what Tory MPs will be voting on.
As for your "reasoned response", i dont think responding to me by calling it BS is reasoned. You completely dismiss a point of view by calling it BS.
Feel free to disagree with me but if you begin by calling it BS then dont expect people to consider that as a reasoned response.

right wingers dont want to debate, they just want to ignore the alterative to their argument because in their eyes there's no middle ground.
i can understand the left loses their patience with this tactic and some resort to name calling. not a good look but understandable.

What’s to debate? He’s a lying f*cking criminal who would have been ousted months ago if the Tories had a spine between them.

Nah, he'll win comfortably...for the same reason as why the Conservatives are in power, the alternative is rubbish!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pls change the record because that is total BS!, your telling me that we can't find 1 politician who hasn't cheated on his wife, denies how many children he has, lies in parliament, lies out of parliament, and generally puts their own issues in front of the country...i don't believe or accept that tired argument.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's just my opinion dude.
My view is that currently most MPs, regardless of what they think of the PM, will not view now as the right time....those with a stronger conscience will be voting against Boris even if it damages the party, but most will put the Party first
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I get that it's your opinion but you can't REALLY believe that there is NO other alternative that BJ, really? There's are hundreds of MP's who can do the job exactly the same or better on all sides (blue or red).

I know I can get frustrated with left wing voters. Hell I get frustrated with people I agree with. I'm a remainer and a friend of mine referred to it as the "racist brexit vote" earlier and that got me angry.
But frankly I think devonshire has made level headed, well reasoned points throughout.
You seem to be mistaking a lack of jargonistic nonsense as "not making valid points and spouting generic lines".

It cannot get worse.

wonder how much was spent on the jubilee celebrations. I am going to estimate 500 million.
I reckon that could have been better spent elsewhere
