Personally, i'd be more concerned being in a relationship where I "controlled my woman" as you have mentioned many times today. That means that are far less likely to voice concerns, as you are clearly holding some power over them... be it through physical or psychological "control".... financial control or fear of standing in the community.
My wife and I are equal and honest with each other, with zero coercion from either side... we've have been together for 24 years now and I never have to think "Is she just with me because of fear or duty"... Being completely equal and honest is amazing...
