Awesome, two pacey FBs to deal with their rapid wide players.

Yeah, just getting up, its 5.30 but will be heading out in 30 or so and almost certainly out of wifi range in the canyons.

I've given you the customary 5 stars Gem.

Got to discourage a return of halfwit 😆

First eleven looks a lot stronger this season doesn't it.

One of the big factors today will be Neto getting back in his groove. He has been pretty meh so far this season.

If they sit deep and encourage us on to theme, they will tear us a new one on the break. Hope Bruno has done his homework 👀

Neto goes close but what a ball from Neves!

A Neves special. It's been a long time coming.

Even game so far. Both full backs doing well to keep Saint Maximan and Willock quiet and Sa looking sharp. One howler from Collins could have ended in tears but no harm done.

So there we are 1-1 as most predicted. Very disappointing after Raul's goal was disallowed.

Thought we were just about the better side, but there’s vey little you can do about a strike like their goal. Good game, thought Neves was superb.

A fair result in the end. I hope I never see Hwang in a Wolves shirt again. What the heck was he doing back there and an awful clearance.

Very promising from our new players and I thought the defence did well, justifying the team selection.

Must get a CF in before the window closes.

The move that created Jimenez’s “goal” was excellent. Probably was a foul by Neto though to be fair.
We haven’t put in a below par performance yet so I’m not worried.
Think we will sign a striker of some sort. If not it’s going to be a long season where we just scrape a top half finish.

Who would have guessed that Guedes would be so good at tackling. I lost count of the times he dispossessed one of their players. He robbed Saint-Maximin of possession several times.
Another Neves master class and Jonny back to his best in the first half. Thought Jimenez looked much better today and pleased to see him staying higher up the pitch. Semedo was excellent and Sa's best performance so far this season. Neto is looking more dangerous as the games go by. Both Nunes and Guedes seem to be settling in nicely.
All in all a disappointing result but another encouraging performance.
And by the way, why couldn't Saint-Maximin have pulled his hamstring 10 minutes earlier.

Mixed views about that game. Very entertaining to watch and Newcastle had a lot of the ball and heaven knows how many corners, but we created better scoring opportunities and could have been further ahead until we ended up trying to hang on at the end.

Neves outstanding for us and by far the best player on the field. Defensively all 4 played well despite coming pressure at times. Guedes had a really good first half but then faded. Up and down performances from Neto, Nunes and Jimenez. VAR decisions could easily have gone in our favour. Newcastle could have gone down to ten men when it was 1-0 and Neto’s foul leading to our disallowed goal might have been let go on another day.

But Mr Hwang is a disaster. Ridiculous clearance to set up their equaliser then on a breakaway he completely failed to control the ball and the chance was gone. Think that was the sum total of his contribution.

Thought we could have made subs earlier as usual when we needed fresh legs, and Traore or Dendoncker would have been better options than Hwang who will hopefully be performing for someone else by next week.

To be fair, when you're on the back foot somewhat and holding onto a 1-0 lead, it's sometimes best not to swap too many players as it can upset the rhythm.

I sincerely hope Leeds come in for Hwang. He can go for free in my book.

The result was disappointing and I thought the whole team played well. Neves again outstanding. Certainly not concerned at this point, as it's going to take time to adjust to a new system and for players to bed in.

No, can't defend Hwang anymore he undid all the good work the defence had put in on one ridiculous ball (assist?). Other than that I thought we played really well, dealt well with all their pressure and put them under plenty in return. Can't help thinking that if we were playing someone like Bournemouth and it wasn't on TV that goal would not have been disallowed, but on reflection a draw was probably the right result and wouldn't have turned my nose up at it at the start.

Neves was outstanding, he actually seems to have improved playing alongside Nunes, really impressed with Guedes today too did loads of work and was creative in attack too. We'll probably play rubbish at Bournemouth and win, bloody hope so we're due a bit of luck.

Fabio on the bench today.

I see Boly failed to report for the match today, despite being told he was in the squad. Unprofessional and not what I’d expect of him

posted on 28/8/22

Just watched the highlights of the Anderlecht game where they were outplayed first half and lucky to be only 2-1 down. Fabio came on at half time and they dominated the second half with Fabio foiled three times by the keeper

Just seen the highlights, that last five mins must have been hell

Not surprised with the draw, just wish i had used my joker. Defo a foul by aneto unfortunately but it was a good move regardless.

I see Bruno is getting slated elsewhere by just about everyone? Justified?

Hwang popular i see has to go, it just isn't gonna happen here.

For me Bruno deserves to get slated.

Never been entirely convinced by him on top of which for the first time in quite a while it looks like things are not great in the dressing room - inspirational captain gone, Boly awol, public criticism of individual players in fairly recent memory.

As for today, bringing on Hwang when Dendonker (e.g.) would have made much more sense. Not only that but sitting back on a one goal lead, whether that’s the players or the managers, is never a great idea. It looked like that goal was coming even though it took a mistake and a great finish. Also we were far too sloppy in possession far too often.

All that said, there were some very good signs - Neves awesome all over the pitch, Semedo not far behind, Guedes a good game including a lot of hard work in defence, Nunes a bit quiet for me but obviously a class act.

If we get a striker we have a very good group of players (though still a bit lacking on the bench). I’m far from convinced Bruno is the man to get the best out of them.

COYW.

Thanks for the great report Mango

I am torn on Bruno at this stage, i like him and do think he was not helped at all last season. That said, how long can we go thinking everything is fine? There are hints of issues behind the scenes on several occasions ow which is a concern and then of course no win in 11 games and 13 points from the last 18 games, that is one shy of half a season. That is pretty worrying in any world.
