Tottenham Line Up v Marseille / City

Do we just take each game as it comes without much change?

At least with everyone fit bar Lucas and Gil, Conte has some good problems to deal with. I'm most interested in if he will bring Kulu back and who for?

Reckon because Sess started at the weekend, Perisic will start this one.

Haven’t a clue which two will start from Kulu, Richy and Son.

Was thinking the same... although he may wish to save Perisic for the City game?

I worry about Kane`s workload, there is an injury around the corner if he isn`t managed properly.

In an ideal world I would go full strength and (hopefully) blow Marseille away, then look to rest key players when the game is out of sight. Unfortunately football rarely works like that, and I suspect Marseille will be no pushover and they will be right up for it.

Conte needs to get his rotation right and not burn out key players.

Yeah possibly. My team for the Marseille game would be:

Lloris

Perisic
Davies (lenglet around 60)
Dier
Romero
Doherty

Bentancur
Bissouma

Kulu
Kane (Son around 60)
Richy

Means Sess, Lenglet, Hjojberg, Emerson and Son all go into the City game fresh. With Bentancur and Romero already have less minutes under their belt so far this season.

For me Son's movement and involvement was substantially improved against Fulham and he's clearly hungry for goals/goal involvement, so I'd keep him going now.

Kane looks further along that journey to me and coming into peak form, so I'd also resist any temptation to tinker with him.

I think that means Kulu to the bench for now as Richi had a good game at the weekend as we all know. People have talked about him as a wing back but clearly he doesn't have the speed of foot for that position, and I don't think he has the defensive aspects to his game or likely the engine that PEH does to make him a viable stand in for the box to box roll.

It that’s the best available, then yes.

Do you think the CL will suit Conte’s mote cautious, counter attacking style better then the PL?

OM:

Lloris
Sanchez* Dier Lenglet
Doherty/Spence Højbjerg/Bentancur Bissouma** Perisic
Kulusevski Kane Richarlison***

City:

Lloris
Romero Dier Davies
Emerson Højbjerg Bentancur Sessegnon
Kulusevski Kane Son

Should rotate the wingbacks out and play the ones at the weekend who did so well against city last season

*Romero didnt look at full fitness at the weekend, wouldnt risk him with 2 games in a week so soon back from injury with such important games coming thick and fast

**Bentancur/Hojbjerg should get a rest for this one with lots of games coming up

***Son is usually lethal vs City and Richarlison deserves a CL start, giving Sonny a rest

If anyone deserves a CL start it’s son. He signed a contract extension when we was sheit then banged in the goals to get us there. Form might be low but he deserves this start imo

hes started 6 PL games in a row and there will be more CL games for him to start in.

I think there is no need to rotate CBs, its one of the least demanding areas of the pitch so they should be able to cope with 3 games in 8 days. Tactically and in terms of having a settle side I would do the following:

vs Marseilles

- Start with Perisic, Lenglet because i think OM will be more defensive and these guys add creativity and passing that will help to break them down.

May be rest Emerson to keep him fresh & give Doherty some match time, and Bissouma for PEH for the same reason.

Kane Richy & Deki. Son rested, probably a late sub appearance

vs Man City

Davies for his defensive abilities.
Sessegnon for his energy and pace on the counter attack
Then stick with the usual lineup, Deki on, Richy in reserve...basically the team that did them last season, with Perisic & Richy in reserve if we need to go for it a bit more.

This makes sense... although then Davies and Deki are coming in v City on the back of being on the bench for 2 games prior.

Deki, no, i reckon he should start vs OM, Son rested.

Davies, good point although i think he can slot in at LCB fine after a couple games out, they are well drilled at the back there and he's been a key part of it.

Pretty much mirrors my thoughts. Although I would have Davies/Lenglet the other way around for two fixtures.

rivals this season.

I know you have to rotate players to keep them fresh…,
But…

Doherty, Sanchez & Davies will seriously weaken our side… it’s a shame we have 2 such big big games in 3 days, that we have to play them!

Spurs don't have to play them. It's early in the season. I cannot believe any player is burnt out after just six games. Talk of burnout used to be in March or thereabouts. Now we are talking in September!!!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

That would be the Sanchez who weakened us so much we didnt let a goal in in 10 hours play with him on teh pitch

And Doherty who was instrumental to our great form through Fab and March last year, and when he got injured we lost at home to BHA and then drew at Brentford.

And Davies who played almost every game under Conte, in achieving top 4 with some extremely impressive form and defensive numbers!
