There will always be arguments on this between Aberdeen and Celtic

Fun fact - The Spanish number 5 had an Irish cousin that was the Celtic Keeper.

Surely Celtic in 1967 is bigger?

I'm a Celtic fan but have to be honest and think the Dons had the bigger achievement given the disparities in club size - a true giant killing. If Celtic win the CL today then that would surpass it but next to zero chance of that.

Fair enough
I do remember watching the game as a lad and cheering on the Dons!

Great achievement. It kick started a brief period when Celtic and Rangers didn't have it all their own way. Throw in Dundee United as well

The new firm started in the 80s when Aberdeen and Utd were doing well

Mind Bayern Munich in the QFs as well

I was born in 90 and don't believe any team has ever challenged the old firm.

That's what the books tell us but did any of you see it with your own eyes?

Great achievement 👏

Aberdeen and Utd were superb in the 1980s.
They made the league interesting.

I would end up hating it, but how God would it be with a strong Scottish Premiership (as long as Celtic won it by three points every year )

Aberdeen won 9 domestic trophies in the 80s
Celtic won 8
Rangers 10

Wasn't there a final where SAF slagged the team off after the game saying they didn't deserve to win

Yes. The Scottish Cup Final, Aberdeen only beat the Baddies 1-0, Ferguson wanted Rangers humiliated.

Cursed season that turned out to be. Reached every available final, won none, and lost the league title on the final day too.

Lost the CWC final in e.t.
Lost the King's Cup to a 90th-minute header
Lost the League Cup 4-3 on agg
Lost the Supercopa in e.t.
Lost the league title on the last day

By the way, there was a feature in the Guardian about it too, in case you missed it:

Aye, as a Celtic man based in Aberdeen I witnessed a serious number of pumpings by the Dons at Pittodrie in that period. Was at Uni 81-85 and went to a fair few Dons' home Euro nights around then, mainly because they were a cracking side to watch ... well that and one of my Economics lecturers was behind the introduction of the voucher scheme for getting tickets.
