The Witcher 3 top 5 game of all time though

Please man. Above San Andreas or Vice City?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Again horses for courses - its does everything better in modern gaming, tell me one thing either of those games GTA games does better?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Judging older games by the same level, to games that are released today is where the mistake is being made imo

That's like saying Mario Bros or Tetris should be removed from the list entirely

You gotta judge games in the era they come from if you're judging all the games.
Mortal Kombat and Tekken are undoubtedly some of the best games ever. In their era people could not put their joysticks down once those games were on
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tekken tag is a personal favourite.

FF7 @ 17?!?! that games has to be top 10 IMO.

Its a very biased list.... journey @ 29?! na, decent wee game one of the best of all time?!?!

Resi Evil should have been in well lower than journey, resi 4 was good but the original is the easily the best IMO. Resi 2 was also axcellent

Outer Wilds again was a good game, I would recomend it ...but 30 in the GOAT list....come on man

Aye where is counter strike?

And dues ex human revolution I'd put top 100
----------------------------------------------------------------------
loved Deus ex human revolution.

Someone mentioned about Read Dead being impressive.

Deus ex HR is prob one of the cleanest and most polished games I played.

regardless how you created your character there was a way to accomplish your mission based on that build, so always 5/6 different ways you could do all the missions.

everythig was clean, no glitches. Very good story, outstanding graphics and the gameplay was so smooth and varied.

Id say Deus Ex HR is possibly one of the most underated and well made games of all time.

phenomenal

How does that Zelda game stack up against Elden ring? Apart from almost certainly being miles easier .

Pretty much as different as you can get tbh. The only similarities are it's 3rd person, fantasy games, with magic. After that they are more or less polar opposites. Zelda exploration and puzzle solving is king and combat is a long second. Elden Ring the opposite; combat and fighting is top with exploration not quite as important and more led.

Also the way leveling is done - you have classes in Elden Ring, and can find one of the best weapons in a game in a random side quest chest with no special bosses. You want the best weapons or skills in Zelda complete a specific dungeon with puzzles and/or bosses.

I’ve been through the whole list now and it’s just bad from start to finish, but, then again, it is by GQ, who aren’t exactly renowned for video games or producing anything of journalistic quality & integrity.

The biggest indictment being that the highest ranked GTA game is GTA III, despite Vice City coming out within TWELVE MONTHS of it and being immeasurably better in all departments: story, gameplay, graphics, vehicle & weapon variety, et al; I would have great sympathy if VC came out three or four years later.

Whether nostalgia plays a part, I’m sure it does, but throughout my life there have been certain games that really grasped me and probably helped me through some rough times, so for that they will always be in my heart.

This is sad as hell, but I actually get pretty giant tattoos of the concept art of games when they’ve really hit me - landscapes and the like, such that you wouldn’t know it was a game to look at; I’m not just getting a giant Mario face across my back 😂😂

Think that's more them just creating a click bait head line. They asked a few people what their top 10 games where - and that seems to be with little no context. And it gets worse.....one of the groups of people they asked were the Verge, so do what you will with that info

Personally Elden Ring. The world felt more alive to me with more interesting things to do, and it seemed to have reasoning behind the space. Zelda is a good game, but you could cut the world in 2, and I feel have a better game, as there was just so much empty space with 0 danger. Also lets not even discuss breaking weapons, why the hell do you add swords and shields with the consistency of balsa wood? Dont get me wrong its a fun gun with some great locations, and the dungeons are good, but Elden Ring is just better at almost everything, except climbing

I will be honest I was never that nostalgic for "newer" Nintendo games, I think once it got round the Playstation era, I preferred those "more adult" games so lost a lot of that Nintendo magic. So although I do enjoy a few things from Nintendo, I feel I an now wowed as much by people who really like the franchises.

And its a weird one for sure, but I just found BoTW more a sandbox than a game, sort of like GTA V and a few Ubi games in which the story isn't that captivating but the world is extremely fun. Compared with say RDR, the Witcher, and Elden rings in which the story I just feels pulls you more and has some urgency..........well not red dead 2 - I officially call that the hunting and fishing sim cos I don't think I have done a main story quest for ages now, and just go hunting and fishing

Just noticed that Donkey Kong Country isn't there. The graphics Rare pulled off on a SNES were revolutionary for 1994, it was also a brilliant (if unforgiving) platformer.

I’ve got red dead 2 at home, still in the wrapper, can’t bring myself to load it on as I just won’t have the time to play something like that! Elden ring took up a huge chunk of time for me, and the dlc is out soonish…

anyone else feel they wasted hours of their life on elden ring?

Boring same old dungeons and bosses, no dialogue, no real story, blurry cold world with nothing in it.

really didn't get the hype all the way through.
