Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope. Remastered.

Still the best action movie of all time.

For me the top 5 in no particular order would be:

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Aliens
Terminator 2
Die Hard
Predator

I do agree leaving Die Hard out of my list is a big miss, but at the same time I find the films you've named here interesting. Films all from the 80s? I would guess you were born in the 70s!

I do think the age in which we grew up (our teen years and 20s) is a big factor in our decision making.

Personally I was born in 1990, so naturally I lean toward quite a few films that came out more recently. I can't help it, my natural bias I guess!

I was born in the early 80's, I actually share my Birthday with Raiders and it was one of my favourites as a kid so might well be a good reason why I'd rate it so highly. But I do think this was just a great era for action movies anyway and they tend not to make them like this anymore. There have been some recent good ones like Edge of Tomorrow but as far as the John Wick movies, I just find these very generic with the same fighting style all the time. It's like watching someone playing a first person shooter video game for 2 hours.

Point Break.

Another recent good one and I know it's not fashionable to rate Avengers movies on here but Captain America Winter Soldier is a pretty good actioner.

Don't think Total Recall has been mentioned either. The Arnie film, not the crappy remake.

This was on Film 4 last night. Such a grate film.

I watched mad max on its release and thought it was the biggest pile of crap i've ever seen.
I have since seen the consensus that it is a great film so I will have to wait it again.

I thought it was a trippy, mumble bumble, episode of wacky racers

Die Hard with a vengeance is my favourite Die Hard movie. Willis and Jackson chemistry is brilliant and a brilliant villan in Jeremy Irons.

Die Hard 1 or 3 should be in with a shout IMO.

I am quite saddened by the Matrix comments.

Best film ever because in 30 years it will be a reality!!

Shame on you youngsters who don't realise that your grandchildren will just be plugged into the machines!!
