He's only 25 too so 5+ good years ahead of him.

Knows the club inside out.

Knows what it takes to play for us etc.

Has done it in OF and CL games for us.

Also getting him for £15m+ cheaper than we sold him for.

And folk are upset? 🤷
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m certainly not. I’ll be absolutely delighted if Jota comes back, and accepting that it might take him a wee while to get back up to speed.

A good question.

going to pi$$ on this a bit.

i dont think 8-10 million is a good price for Jota, at all.

rennes paid about 8 million euro and he hasnt kicked a ball for them. He's arguably an inferior player to the one we spent 6 million on a few years ago.

Tierney, always injured, its likely the only reason we are getting him

i get the feeling we will have Idah and Maeda up front for the rest of the season, dont feel very good about that.

anyway, good morning all

If we don’t replace Kyogo NOW, with an actual striker, then yes I agree that’s a massive gamble.

I’m OK with the reported price for Jota though, in a position we absolutely need … with Yang pash, Palma pash/away, and Forrest finished. Appreciate he hasn’t played a lot of football, never mind quality football, since he left … but how much can he have declined? Still think he’ll be a major asset domestically, so worth the risk IMO, but time will tell.

KT I’m conflicted on. Clearly a major injury risk, but on balance I think I’m just about in the camp of “fook it, I’ll take a partially available KT, as I’m totally scunnered seeing the always fit alternative(s)”.

Some negativity about.

Next week's game against Villa aside, it's the right time to sell Kyogo. Last chance to get decent money for him. Not selling now is doing 'a Rangers'.

The league is done and villa is a dead rubber. Kyogo won't make a difference to either.

It's also clear that he's at the start of a slow decline. Offside more than Scott Mcdonald and missing chances in almost every game. Time to go.

Serious ??
25M for him 1.5 years ago and you don't think 8.4M is a good deal ?

I think alot of people have forgotten what Jota was like , honestly used to watch him wondering how the fxk we had such a player

Until he's played 8-10 games we won't know whether it's been a good deal or not. We all know he's barely kicked a ball for 18 months so it's gonna take time to get "match fit"

Surely Stokes should've been used as the beacon of offsides?

True, but even at 50% match fit I’d wager he’d be far better than Yang, Palma or Jamesie. Seriously though, at 25 he should be coming into his peak years. Has to be worth a gamble, surely?

Agree. He’s been a fantastic signing overall, and an absolute model pro, but TBH we haven’t seen peak Kyogo for at least 18 months now (not entirely his fault, I know). Combine that with him clearly wanting a taste of a bigger league, and it makes sense. Still think we’d need a new striker in this window though, even if it’s on loan … so I’m sure our wonderful, proactive recruitment will have all that in hand.

You just know Lawwell has a semi that he rediscovers that form and that we punt him for £25m again.

i hope to be wrong CT, but he hasnt kicked a ball.

the thing about jota we need to remember is that he didn't kick a ball before celtic and he hasnt kicked a ball since.

he like many others might just have been perfect for ange, i listed the players yesterday who looked far better under ange and crap under boring mcfvckface and his sleep inducing brand of football.

"Kvisgaarden is keen on a move to Celtic and Brondby are open to doing a deal"

Gives me some hope we might get him this window
