Thought Bentancur had a great game also. Maddison had one of his better games. And as you say Spence was once again exceptional. Overall great 3 pts. Onwards we go!

Positives:

Many of our injured players back. It means we should not have to worry about form being as bad as it was.

Spence. He is the success story of the season so far. Our best full back turned out to be a bench option that managers never gave a look in to. Genuinely an exciting looking talent.

Other new players as you've mentioned.

Negatives:

The overall performance. Seemed as if Vic was the busier keeper and this is a trend that has plagued us the majority of the season - our keepers being the busier. They created good chances, the better chances, and should have scored. This is an awful United team as well.

Kulu not currently as effective as he should be.

OP

Very pleasing yesterday. Some of the injured players back. A win. Some decent performances.

Should get even better next few weeks.

Yeh the bores are getting on everyone's nerves now. Never happy, not even when Spurs win.

Bottom line is they have an agenda, which is Spurs losing.

Sandy, were you not overly critical of Ange after we beat Coventry?

Sandy stop trying to put obstacles in the way, you don’t need my mobile number, just be outside the spurs shop at the stadium 2 hours before kick off. Yes there may well be 100’s of people around but how many will be 76 yo men standing by the shop entrance. It’s clear to everyone you are a fantasist so why would I want to give my number out to a total stranger who isn’t who he says he is? I’ll see you at 1pm on the day of the Southampton game, no excuses now.

Nice article.

On Spence I quite like him on the left as when he under laps Son he comes on to his natural foot and can play quick effective one two’s.

With Ipswich and then city a few days later this is where we need to be smart with alternating the 3 FBs we’ve got and as fans we can’t get annoyed if one of your favourites miss out.

I’d be tempted to do something like

Porro & Udogie Vs Ipswich
Porro & Spence Vs M city

One game, for a poor performance. The rest of the season fully backed Ange. Sizzle and his mates haven't let up on the negatives all season. Big difference.

Ange has options now with players returning from injury. I think he will swap it around a bit. Personally would prefer a settled defence of Spence, Romero, Micky and Udogie. Porro could even be pushed further forward.

Ideally but we know on the FBs Udogie is very injury prone and Porro is really good when fresh.

Can’t see any problem with them all swapping between each other.

Yesterday's game was like 2 bald guys fighting over a comb

Just glad we won

Couple of thoughts....
1) Great to have Vic back. He's an elite shot stopper
2) Spense played very well going forward but the defensive positioning of both FBs out of possession is a JOKE and will continue to cost us goals
3) Happy for Davies and Danso, both played well. Or CBs have taken a lof of flack this season, mostly due to the woeful efforts of our MF to protect them
4) Bergvall's youth and energy showed up how woeful Casemiro and Bruno are. I look forward to seeing him paired with Archie
5) Kulu had a poor game, went back to the bad old days, slowed down our breaks and was very predictable cutting inside all the time
6) Tel looks like he's used to playing with better quality players. Excellent movement, think the guy has a huge ceiling
7) Love Son but he's a fading force. If Spurs are gonna build around young players we will need someone who's a better captain than him to lead them
8) Thought Madders did OK, looks like a player who desperate for the manager to build a team around him and that takes me to my final point & back to point 2..... If we could only be a bit more pragmatic where the FBs are concerned (in position I think a 4231 would really help madders). FBs can step into MF but don't always need to be our most attacking wide players.... Spread the field using Odobert/ Son, BJ & Kulu and create a bit more space inside for Madders in a pure 10 Role

My team for Ipswich would be....

******************Vic*************
****Porro***Danso***VDV****Spence****
*************Gray****Bergvall*******
*******BJ******Madders*****Oddobert*****
**********************Tel***************

posted on 17/2/25

My final point being..... Spurs carry plenty of attacking threat with the likes of Dom, Tel, BJ, Son, Kulu,Odobert, Madders, Kulu, Moore as well as FBs that like to attack (at the right time).... Scoring goals is not gonna be our problem,.... Leaving acres of space behind our FBs is an open invitation for the opposition to attack us but also puts CBs at risk of injury by having to cover huge amounts of space. The risks don't justify the upside

Positives....

Vicario is a huge return i am not sure i truly appreciated it until yesterday. Constantly talking which is what we need in a team that has not been settled.

Davies never a popular a figure but mr dependable.

Odobert he looks so lively he looked great for Burnley looking foward to seeing him teaming with his French Under 21 team mate in Tel.

Tel needs games there is a player in there and he does not lack confidence. Is he worth £60 million? Never in a million years worst deal in football history if we give Bayern 60 after they took Harry Kane. I really like Tel his attitude, needs games for his fitness though.

Spence. You cannot press him effectively he breaks lines with ease. Bizarre that Conte didnt use him as he is a perfect wing back.

Decent performance and 3 points, which is always helpful. Nice to have some big names coming back...add Dom Solanke VDV Cuti and <cough> Werner and suddenly the bench is too small.

We need to control the game better and we kept losing it in our half trying to play out, inviting pressure. Felt we were still too vulnerable when attacking, but it does also feel like the team are having to relearn how to play together.

Hopefully the unplanned subs were not due to more bad injuries.

Danso the big positive, for me. Solid defender, decent passing, and seems like he has a forward run in him.

posted on 17/2/25

If Spence carries on the way he has, Tuchel should be calling him up. Can operate on either full back and does a very good job.

And Udogie should take note. Hopefully with the emergence of Spence, Udogie should lift his game defensively.

posted on 17/2/25

Udogie had no competition til now, seemed to be coasting when fit this season

He now has to get back to the form he showed when we first got him to get back in

I like how our squad is taking shape

Did the decent performance happen while I was in a coma?

Is the decent performance in the room with us now?
