How do lads missed the today, went to see warhorse instead

Would take an absolute clusterfck to go down now, maybe good time to give the younger players more pitch time and gradually phase out those most likely to leave

Saw that was on at the Grand, was on in Hanley last weekend, went to eat at a place opposite the theatre. Just got back from Clinton Baptiste in Stafford tonight, I'm getting the word...

didn’t play very well but shows what Larsen can do if you get the ball in the box to him, we should try doing that more often generally, our failure to do so is probably why apparently we are the only team in Europe-I assume top leagues- not to have a pen this season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Infuriatingly "Ja sir, give the ball to Jorgen and he will score" doesn't scan well.

Well, Larsen did step up to the plate and Bellegarde provided the two assists.

Overall, an under par performance by the team, but it does show what Larsen in particular can do, when crosses come in. Surely we must use this ploy, even when Cunha comes back.

Scored the 1st against the run of play and generally controlled the game after that. A quick second after half time from a good defensive header by Agbadou should have seen us get more, but we spurned a few chances that should have made the game safe. A nervous last 15 minutes, but we held on to grab a vital 3 more points.

With Ipswich losing and hopefully Leicester not winning later today, helps us gradually move clear of the dreaded drop zone.

4 points without Cunha and we're showing we are not a one man team and can get results without him, albeit against teams in the bottom half.

West Ham and Ipswich up next.

I've been critical if VP in the past, but taking us from being 5 points from safety to 9 points clear can only bode well for what could happen next season and may, just may, convince one or two players to stay.

posted on 16/3/25

I reckon we are one win from safety now. Can't see any team below us getting to 30 points.

Over their last 10 games Leicester have got 3 points and Ipswich 2.

To pass us they’ll need at least 10 points from their remaining games which just ain’t going to happen.

posted on 16/3/25

Yeah highly unlikely now for either to catch us. But the real positive has to be over the last ten games we'd be in 6th place so VP in his short tenure has shown we're a pretty decent outfit

posted on 16/3/25

Said for months the others had no chance of catching us. they just are never going to pick up any decent number of points.

posted on 16/3/25

I'm not sure you can look at previous form to be sure that they won't pick up points. The trend every season is that teams at the top score less goals in the last quarter of the season as they go more defensive to grind out results and the teams at the bottom tend to score more and increase their points per game as they fight for survival. You also have increasing teams with little to play for, which gives more opportunities.

Ipswich will look at their games against us and Leicester as a chance to close that gap. Leicester will be looking at their games versus us, Ipswich and Southampton. One more win for us probably sees their heads drop and the gap seem insurmountable. If we go on a poor run now though, it isn't beyond the realms of possibilities that one of those two will get to 29 points when there is all to play for.

posted on 16/3/25

I don’t think Ipswich or Leicester are good enough to get another 12 points to take them to 29, no matter who they are playing. As for us I think we’re on for getting much more than 3 points from our last 9 games. I see us having a few points to spare when the fat lady sings.

posted on 16/3/25

I also think we will get more than three points. I just think 3 more points takes it beyond doubt, as the Ipswich and Leicester players will probably give it up at that point.

You basically think we are safe on 26 points though, which is madness really.

posted on 16/3/25

I'd argue if we beat West Ham, we should be looking to upwards to chase them down rather than down at that point.

posted on 16/3/25

Yes i think 26 points will probably prove to be enough. Nothing mad about that at all. Given the difference in goal difference that means Ipswich or Leicester will need another ten points to overtake us which they probably won’t get. Not an important issue anyway cause I suspect we won’t lose all of our last 9 games.

Congrats to Newcastle for winning their first major English honour since 1955.

Since that time we’ve won two league championships, one FA Cup and two League cups.

Wim bigger than them ay we

Leicester looked good against Chelsea, they have a chance against a still shaky United.

The lowest number of points gained and still avoided relegation is evidently 32.

To suggest we are safe on 26 is absolutely ridiculous in the extreme. Stupidity on a completely new level in fact.

posted on 16/3/25

A moderate Man Utd team beat Leicester easily tonight. Leicester haven’t scored in any of their last 6 games now. And have set a new Premier League record by not scoring in any of their last 7 home games.

Good couple of weekends for Wolves. 4 points for us and none for any of the three teams below us.

posted on 16/3/25

Hope we're looking up now with a view to catching one the teams above us. Take that mindset and what's going on below is will take care of itself.

26 points and -18 GD would've been enough to stay up last season.

"Ipswich v Forest
Southampton v Wolves
Leicester v Man United

Three away wins and we are 9 precious points away from danger with 9 games left to play."

"...if we keep it tight, keep our heads and take our chances we're more than capable of taking three points. 1-2."

This bloke knows what he's talking about

Leicester or Ipswich won't reach 27 points. Take that to the bank.

About time we heard the outcome of the charge of improper behaviour against Cunha. He had until March 10th to comment on the charge so should be a decision imminently. He will miss the next game against West Ham as part of the original ban, but then what?
