Romero last night
Romero playing in both games is another reason why we should just flog him in the summer. He's never really cared about his parent club all that much. If we can get £80m for him we should just take it. It's profit on a player who, whilst supremely talented on the ball with a real eye for a pass, has defence issues out of possession. I've no doubt that the Argentine FA will have told him Spurs' request and he's said "no way, I'm playing both games" so it's clear where his priorities lie. His attitude with us stinks a bit. I'd rather someone comes in that wants to be here. If it wasn't his stupid suspensions, it was injury. There was always a reason he missed large chunks of the season.
On VDV, I don't think he will have more fitness. You can't replicate game state on the training pitch so he'll need more minutes before that Europa game.
Think he wants out, he’s been publicly blaming the Tottenham medical staff for being out injured for so long.

This is unproven rubbish.
Romero played 60, 90 and then 68 minutes in our last 3 games. That is a player fit enough to be called up.
It seems like its been Spurs holding him back , "being careful" about his return and managing that.
So I have no issue with them being called up and answering that call.
I also suspect that the Argie FA and Romero are a bit of a law unto themselves and will do what is in their best interests rather than what might be in Spurs. Uruguay & Brazil were 2 key qualifiers and Martinez is also injured so this outcome was always likely.
Its doesnt prove he cares not about Spurs, just that he cares passionately about his country. I am sure he doesn't chose to get injured, or determine his comeback date or chose to get injured on international duty.
For me what is more relevant is, can he be relied on physically? Is this just going to be how it is, constantly injured? Coupled with the mistakes he's making are we best to cash in where his stock seems high in Spain? With 2 years on his deal, we hold the cards. But I also wouldn't blame him if he wants to be at another level.
Personally, if we change manager this summer, I would want the new man to try and get the very best out of him and see where we go from there. We'll have a buyer next summer if he still wants out and we'll make a profit on him

Yeah, I know it's unproven but still most likely given his record up to now. It's only opinion at the end of the day.
Didn't realise he only had 2 years to run. If that is the case then we'll probably only get around 60m for him. We're better off flogging now and putting that money into a replacement because if we wait one year, the max we'll get is maybe 20m the following summer. Realistically with where things lie managerially, there's nothing that will happen between now and the end of next season that would change his mind on leaving. I'd rather we were sensible financially and sold at the right time rather than dragging this out and not having any capital behind us when we look for a replacement.
60m could go some way to bringing in a replacement. Maybe Huijsen at Bournemouth or Guehi at Palace. It's time to sell Romero and do the right thing where we failed so much with Dele, Dier and Eriksen. There's an art to selling and we've failed miserably on that front in recent years.
Sell Romero in the summer, definitely!
We’ve still got VDV, Danso, Dragusin..: & Vuskuvic is joining in the summer.
Both Romero and Micky need to be playing the full 90 minutes of both legs against Frankfurt. No excuse for saving them.
Oh and definitely sell Romero at the end of the season. I would like to keep Micky, but if you are only going to get a handful of games out if him every season, he may have to go as well. But that is all for the future. Let's see if the pair of them can at least stay fit for the next two months to help try and win the Europa.
Kulu and Richarlison coming back would be a big plus as well.
If we can get good money for Romero I would flog him, we’re just never going to be his priority - which I get, but it’s not good enough for this club.
VDV - I would like to see if he can stay fit under a manager who doesn’t expect him to complete 5/6 recovery runs a game

Dragusin is questionable and the last guy is still too young
open to selling him for a good price as only other option is him signing a new contract and the guy doesnt play enough minutes for us at the moment, but no doubt we'd need to invest the funds on a starting centre half to compliment VDV
Vuskovic on loan to Stoke, Phillips in as 4th CB
no nothing about Phillips but cant see him getting much of a look in and will need some game time to develop again, should get a better loan
no Europe and new manager will mean getting away with a smaller squad but also need to not ignore the need for squad improvement
Tbh I'd been more keen to give Phillips a go and find a loan for Dragusin. By all accounts he's been Stoke's best defender
Romero should be careful not to burn too many bridges. He might find no one wants to pay 60 million plus for a player who is injured or suspended half a season and spurs might be his best option.
Real might be looking at that younger Spanish cb, rather than a high fee for an older Romero. Plus Madrid have a lot of Brazilians in their squad who may not want him there
I find it amazing that a player gets linked to the likes of Real Madrid when they can’t even get fit and perform for us.

Never heard of him or seen him play but looks a great profile

Snap ….seems very sort after but no idea on him at all
Just seems a good swap potentially if Dragusin wants back
I’d like to see another season out of him before we make a real judgement on him though
