Hmmm

My take. Yes people committed the offences but the club were complicit in the cover up and not acting as they should have when they first became aware of these offences.

Further exacerbated by drawing out the legal process on some perceived and wholly inaccurate “defence”. There comes an obvious time in all these corporate challenges where you just hold your hand up and settle. As a club we failed to recognise that time and drew out both the scandal and the suffering.

Largely agree. That said I can somewhat understand a degree of corporate paralysis whilst new offenders and victims were coming out the woodwork on a regular basis. A plc detests any unbounded potential liability, right? And where the responsibility to the owners lies between reputation and reparation when it is a moving target may not be straightforward especially when you are run by an accountant.

On your 'wholly inaccurate' comment I'm not sure if you have information others don't but clearly the club are maintaining their arms length stance. Highly unlikely, but perhaps that might still be legally tested by one of those yet to settle.

In your work if you subcontracted some cladding to a company you sent all that kind of work to and an employee or director was also a director of that subby for a while. Your company took credit for a high profile tower refurb with glossy pics in the annual report then a year or so later it goes up in flames and it turns out they used inferior materials and the contract T&Cs are not 100% black and white and there are huge claims, lives ruined, negative publicity. Meanwhile the subby has changed hands, no longer gets your work, has no assets anyway...? To settle would be a material hit to your profits. What do your shareholders expect?

Not exempting the club. Clearly many mistakes were made.

Don't start me on the lawyers. Their predominant consideration is getting their coin. No way they wanted this tested in court.

It went on for far too long and i while i accept the club didnt want to be associated with it i do not accept their defence.

It happened and people at the club at the time knew it happened and knowledge without action is complicit imo, no matter who they are.

My only sympathy is that people at the club now are kinda brought into it, wasnt their doing.

Twitter has often been a cesspool but the past 24 hours has been horrific. So many people not actually caring about the victims and just want a "get it up ye" comment

Oh they absolutely would, I see enough comments about Rangers alleged side of this as well as the Ibrox disaster

I'm slowly drifting away from social media. That might just be age as well but I don't have the energy for the nonsense on there anymore

On a complete tangent and to maybe lighten the mood a bit-check the name of the reporter on this.

I knew social media would be entirely toxic and ill-balanced. To be honest, I wasn't sure this topic would be treated with sensitivity and perspective even on here.
So I've spent the last few days on FF instead.

this is true and it disgusts me, a few years ago more information was being fed out about clubs with historical $ex abuse scandals and you could see people giddy about it.

rangers fans wanting more, celtic fans wanting a "see you did it as well"

wanting kids to be molested to satisfy some perverse need to throw shade at their rivals.
