Completely changes what we'd need from a CF too imo. Someone decent at football who could get the most out of Cunha and Mbuemo would be more beneficial than an out and out goalscorer.

Do we think Amad is better as a wingback than a 10? I think he can be a WB in Europe but in the prem he looks better as a 10. I could be wrong but I just think he looks less effective there - especially defensively.

I'd have Amad as RWB but in a lop sided version of 343. Have Mazraoui as the RCB and you have cover that side that could pretty much make it a back four. Dorgu has the physical attributes to go up and down the opposite flank.

I was keen on Mbeumo and then listened to a geeky United podcast where the hosts were very anti this potential transfer. Basically, the argument is he's a good player but not an elite one (and his goalscoring this year looks like a statistical blip because he's got about double his xG this season but never exceeded his xG in previous years). He'd therefore be a good floor raising squad player if he was recruited at a low price (e.g. Mazraoui fee) but at £50m or more, he's taking up too big a slice of the pie and preventing us from signing the ceiling raising players that will make us a better team. Essentially, you can buy players of his level, they argue, at a lower price if you shop in Ligue 1.
There's a limit to their statistics-based assessments. In particular, that it is a view of the world based on patterns in the past, which therefore cannot predict change in the future. It's no good at telling us what a different coach believes he can unlock in the player's raw skill set, or how he sees an opportunity to use him in a specific tactical system in conjunction with other players. And the same statisticians have over the last couple of years had an over-optimistic view of Hojlund and an over-pessimistic view of Amad.
But it's a solid, rational argument that is worth considering. They're very anti-selling Bruno too, by the way.

I dunno, I’ve kind of been more impressed with his attacking games when he’s played as a RWB, been able to get fully involved in one two’s up and down the line and then in the space left by the opposition when he gets to overlap, meaning he’s running at their box more often rather than just being squared up at the edge of their box for a standing start 1v1.

He did also have the highest xA in the league too. And he's only 25, so perhaps it shouldn't be surprising that he took a step forward in the last year. Particularly when the team play wasn't geared so much towards getting Toney on the score sheet and Mbeumo was given more of a chance to flourish
