Onto the big team.
No idea what to expect tonight
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I heard Clyde SSB for a short period yesterday and whoever was on (think it was Rae) was going on about how this is a great opportunity for Rangers - then went on to talk about how Genk are third bottom of their league, struggling to get wins, manager under pressure etc etc
Absolutely no consideration that Rangers are in as bad a place right now. Do I expect Rangers to win? yes but it was absolutely laughable that he could have switched the word Genk for Rangers and the chat would have been the same

What about the incessant rumblings of Joe Hart last night ? ....i actually dislike him more than Mccoist as a co-commentator .
He kept going on and on , at one point i almost asked the Mrs how her day was

I’ve said this often enough now on here, but lacklustre first halves are pretty much the norm for us now. It’s been happening for a very long time, with this season only being different in that we’ve often managed to be pedestrian after the break as well (albeit last night wasn’t one of them). BR seems incapable of addressing this opening period malaise, which is beyond puzzling. It’s an issue for the whole team, although IMO it stems from a lack of drive and energy in the middle of the park.

I quite like listening to Joe Hart. Probably because he always talks about how much he loved it at Celtic.
He is very protective of goalkeepers and doesn't criticise them though

Quite the desperate of situations for this to happen.
On the rare occasions I forget myself and actually ask her; my mind switches off to what becomes the inevitable response of “you’re not listening are you?”
“Yes I am”
“Go on then. What was I saying?”
“Obviously you were wittering on about Joe Hart”

Arnautovic is still a top striker and gave us a lot of problems
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Red Star scorer Marko Arnautovic created a piece of Europa League history with his goal last night.
It was the 36-year-old Austrian veteran's first goal in the competition since he scored as a kid for Twente Enschede in 2009 against Marseille.
And it's the longest ever time gap between goals scored by a player in the Europa League and UEFA Cup in the competition's 54-year history.
Prolific!

Thought CCV was our best player last night. Donovan was good as well, and KT improved after a fairly nervy start. Scales did well defensively, but his passing was poor. Iheanacho made a difference when he came on. Could have had a couple more as well. Maeda needs worked on though-just not his usual self.
Midfield is a problem. McGregor becomes even safer with his passing in Europe and it’s now a real issue. The fact that our better players were defenders says more about our team right now than red star, who weren’t that great a team.
Gladly take the point though. Was probably a more thoughtful and pragmatic approach to the game than we’re used to, so happy enough with the result.

A point is a good result and was fair last night.
I agree macgregor hatate and yang were a major problem last night.
Yang kept standing next to their left back all night and not being open for the pass.
Macgregor is tricky one. Without him we would need an entire different system but with him we are starting to become predictable and easy to press against.
He seems to get flustered quite easy.

What’s the general consensus on KT so far? Early days as he gets used to playing regularly again, but must admit I was maybe expecting to see a bit more. Big upgrade on wee Greg, especially defensively, but just thought he’d be a more standout performer … especially given how pedestrian the team’s been at times. Too harsh?
