360 gets map packs for CoD a month early . Besides the newer 360's have a much lower failure rate then the older models so 360>PS3

I've noticed a lot of those who possess both consoles prefer the 360, whereas PS3 fans are ardently anti-360, and the implication here is that they don't own one/rarely played it and haven't given it a chance.

But the fact so many dual console holders are loving the 360 over the ps3 is quite significant in this debate.

I own every console in the world ever and I prefer the Xbox 360.

Ive played both a lot and i think the PS3 is much better.

Online is about the same imo maybe 360 slightly better due to more people being on it however you dont have to pay on the ps3.

I've got both consoles. Ironically it's the PS3 which has broken. Never had a red ring on my xbox...erm
PS3 is great for bluray and having GT but seeing as it's busted I bought Forza 4 instead and it's amazing. Plus online gaming is much better on the 360 so I'm not even going to bother repairing/replacing the PS3 but Unchartered which is PS3 only may convince me otherwise....

I spent 1 year in a games development program (as im a programmer)
Anyway, the course was sponsored by Microsoft Though the content was not exclusive to the XBOX system we were nonetheless bombarded with the microsoft propaganda. This consisted of telling us that games developers basically earn more money if they develop for Xbox rather over PS3.
However, having studied the subject in depth here are the conclusions and supported by most who attended the course.

When the first Xbox was launched microsoft made a few bold moves in order to gain market share. First they charged no royalties from developers. That meant developers were free to create games for xbox without having to pay for the rites to do it. This was standard practice with console manufactures for decades. Sega, Nintendo, PSX. PS2 etc etc all did it. Royalties and licences were paid by developers before they ever even thought about making a game for any system.

Also Xbox was being sold for below manufacturing costs, meaning if it cost them 250$ to build a console they would sell it for 249.

They made a massive financial loss but gained a massive share of the market.

Sony meanwhile rested on its laurels until it realised that this was happening. They reacted too late and many delays with the release of the PS3 resulted in developers jumping ship and moving to xbox and the later xbox 360 which was over a year ahead of the PS3. But many Sony fans remained loyal and waited. what they got did not dissapoint from a technical standpoint.
Technically PS3 is hands down a much more powerful machine. Its limits are never going to be reached before Sony inevitably release a new generation of console.

However the simple and damaging fact is that at this stage the developers were enjoying unmatched success with Xbox360. games were flying off the shelves and so PS3 lost its uniqueness. Eventually most developers developed their games for both consoles however always a developer will start out developing for the Xbox with the PS3 version of the game being more of a port rather then a from the ground up development. That is because if a developer designs a game for PS3 he can do so much more with its power that going over/down to the less powerful Xbox unit is a pain in the backside, and results in very nearly another 6 months development time. Converting an Xbox game to run on PS3 is rather easy as the PS3 can handle anything the dev's can throw at it.

IMPORTANT:
Most games for example Fallout 3, COD Black Ops etc etc look exactly the same on both systems as there is no difference in the computing power required to run the game. So that is why people sing from the tree tops about Xbox being just as good as PS3 however its a false notion they have.
Its like walking in to a Fiat dealership in Italy. You see in Italy you can buy a ferrari at a fiat dealership because they are the same company.
But that does not mean they are the same car folks.

PS3 is a ferrari.

But developers like their pay cheque and so Microsoft and Sony are right now locked in a symbiotic relationship in that they both know they cant escape from this cycle and thus their future lays in the hands of the developers.

Ohhh basically PS3 is a mile better then Xbox but if the games are identical on both systems (due to the developers) the argument will continue amongst the less informed.

No, he sounded like just another fanboy to me.

As it has been said, and I agree, most people with multi consoles prefer xbox over PS3. Better service and better games. Also a better class of people............joke.

Its all opinion really anyway.

Tony Jeff.

Im neither a fan boy of either unit. Its just hardware from my point of view.

I actually have a great big rather powerful PC. And if PS3 is a ferrari. Then i have a Bugatti Veron mate.

My comment is simply a matter of fact, and if i was going to spend my cash today and had to choose the Xbox or the PS3.... Well 98% of the games are on both systems and are exactly the same so i would have no problem in getting the Xbox.

However. Red ring, Online Subscription, Uncomfortable controller(IMO) Kinda Ugly and No BluRay only help the PS3 to sell more units.

The only difference that separates them is Exclusive titles, and in that department they both again have their advantages.

PS3 is better. And im not a fanboy because i can read and indeed Understand the technical specs of the unit.

That said. Xbox will launch a new console soon enough and that will probably blow us away. I just want the best my money can buy. If thats from microsoft then fine.

microsoft and sony are rumoured to be releasing the ps4 and xbox 720 in the next couple of years

DingBatMan

I know the ps3 is more powerful but the problem with your argument is there have been games specifically designed for the ps3 and they didnt exactly blow me away graphics wise! If Sony get their act together and drastically improve the online experience for users and as you pointed out get more developers designing specifically for ps3 then I would agree that ps3 is better. For now as a mainly online gamer I would choose xbox all day long!
