I have been generous and assumed that but Devonshire said quater finals so that will be even lower than the 31 I have assumed for winning it so he will infcat be even more wrong.

I'm not trying to "desperately" , "prove" , "make excuses" or do anything.

I merely note that if Spurs get a certain number of pts this season (20 odd) , then UEFA ranking parity is achieved with LFC for the start of the 2012/13 season.

Also note that Devonshire is responding to a comment of mine the other day that I thought even if LFC are dealt with as per last season, their UEFA ranking (the key to an easier task in the CL group stages) would still be much higher than ours. It appears I am badly wrong in this respect.

I may be wrong but, i think the coefficients for clubs are based on a percentage of the league coefficient for the country. Wouldn't England's ranking be higher than Portugal's?

Those points are issued before a single ball has been kicked.The fact Portugals is lower actually allows them to score more points for beating teams from a higher ranked nation.
You can read all about it here http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/calc.html but regardless there is no way a team can get close to 31 points in the quaters regardless of the national coefficient.

On the basis that Liverpool will lose 24pts and Spurs 16pts. Going by your current scores that will put us on 47pts and Liverpool on 65 pts.

That means from now until the end of season Spurs need to find 19pts to pass Liverpool.

He may come the end of season be factually wrong. However, as it stands now you cannot be certain of this today so it is not fact.

It has everything to do with it. If we hit 25.9 pts apon reaching the QF we will be ranked higher than Liverpool for next season. That is a big ask and so if I was to put any money on it you will probably be proved right. But this is not fact yet.

Then look at the following positions.
9 Liverppool
66 Bolton
67 Villa

Now all those 3 teams are not in Europe this season but have been allotted 1.9 points which is Englands coefficient see ENGLAND between 107 and 108.
So every English team is alloted 1.9 points regardless of being in Europe or not.Spurs have currently 6.9 points. 5 they have earnt and 1.9 for the national ranking which as I said is alloted before a single ball is kicked.

Going back to my original point then, your comparison with Porto last year was not a fair one as teams from different leagues have different coefficients and therefore, will not earn the same points for winning the Europa League.

There is 1 additional point for reaching the quaters.Other than that it is the same 2 for win 1 for lose.

Semis is 1 extra Final 1 extra.
CL gets more.

In addition one bonus point is allocated for reaching the quarter final, the semi final and the final. Qualification for the group-stage of the Champions League is awarded with 4 bonus points

So it is not possible to pass Liverpool by reaching the quaters.Thank you.
