Suarez Charged by FA

Once he tried to change his story and make out it was a 'translation' thing convinced me he was guilty.

I wasn't sure from the outset of this as Evra has previous of making false accusations. SB against the security and groundsmen.

A lot of people seem to not understand how an FA Charge works either.

Basically when you are charged the FA is saying they have seen the evidence and believe you did do this.
The choices then are that you accept the charge and their punishment or you contest their 'guilty' finding.
It isn't like a law charge where each side gives their evidence, the FA have already seen enough evidence to make their minds up.

Truth

Because of Evras past it was always open to me but once Suarez started changing his story I was convinced of his guilt.

If the FA works like this then what punishment can be inflicted upon the player? As this is a Criminal offence can they pass it on to the Police?

It still doesn't mean Suarez was racist. Suarez will plead NOT GUILTY

Comment from the club:
We will discuss the matter fully with him when he returns from international duty, but he will plead not guilty to the charge and we expect him to request a personal hearing.

Luis remains determined to clear his name of the allegation made against him by Patrice Evra.

The Club remain fully supportive of Luis in this matter.

I don't know about that Truth but common sense would say they should be able to.

I don't know were you got your information from, but the F.A. allows personal hearings between the parties involved and then are able to withdraw the 'charge' if they see fit.

There is no 'not guilty' plea made

Its a shame

The fact that he's a racist is bad enough, coupled with him trying to lie his way out of it is proof that he's a pathetic human being.

Would the FA take into account cultural differences when deciding guilt or innocence. In SA they will have different views on racism. If it's just UK laws then I fear for Suarez.

You can be certain that the FA has not levelled this charge with out being on very firm ground here. It's massively high profile case.

Don't forget they have already reviewed all the evidence and to them there is a charge to answer.Essentially he has been found guilty and unless he can produce some miraculous piece of evidence or mitigating circumstance he's done. Saying it's a mis translation isn't going to cut it here.

Cultural differences? So you think it's OK in Uruguay to call a black man the 'N' word? He's playing in England, English laws apply.

Mitigating circumstances. You can't expect people to come to this country and just switch from what they have been used to all their lives to a country where the Race Relations Act has been in force for 40 years.

I am not defending Suarez but it might be the case that the FA or UK courts be lenient to be seen as tolerant.

do you think he'll be suspended for our game on sunday?

posted on 16/11/11

Looks like the FA have got some cast iron evidence, has Suarez admitted something?

But like what has already been stated the FA won't get this issue wrong, too high profile.

I think he will play, depending on his mental state.

Being charged doesn't mean an individual is guilty.

It's not like abusing a ref or getting caught on camera of something a ref didn't see. Not the word "alleged" is till being used

Usually they give people 2/3 days to accept the charge or request a personal hearing.
Assuming he requests a hearing it will not be until after the game.
If he accepts then the punishment could be swift.
