No worries,I make up excuses like that when Chelsea or Rangers get knocked out of a cup.............all football fans do.
Thank goodness we lost tonight............great argument mate.
Thank goodness we lost yesterday.
to be fair. corluka is actualy class. but seeing as he came out and said that he wants to leave in january, i am not surprised that he played poorly
No, he's not class
He's average, maybe slightly slightly above average.

I think that the lack of playing time by Rose ,Corluka, Pienaar,Bassong, Gallas and most of them really showed,Kane looked slow and lacking too, I dont think Rose will make it he needs to go out on loan
I was quite disappointed when Corluka left us for you. I remember him never being the quickest but making up for with good technique. Now he seems to have neither.
Rose did not look 100% (not fully fit ?? ) .
Corluka has been on international duty, so less of an excuse.
Pienaar : off the pace perhaps.
Bassong : seems to be trying to be the CB equivalent of Torres.
I have always said the same about Corluka even when lots were raving about him.
Sorry but he is so slow its untrue and there are always going to be times this is exposed. I got slated for saying he needed replacing two years ago on the old 606 but look at the difference this year with Walker at RB.
It was also shown during our run in to the season we did qualify for the CL when Kaboul played the last 7/8 games at right back.
Sorry croatiaspur from the old 606 but IMO you cannot have a prem footballer that is that slow despite his other qualities.
I refuse to agree that a player who is that slow cant be a top player grandspurs. I personally dont think Corluka has ever had the qualities in other departments to make up for it though. Bale said VDV is a slow player yet he is class as he has the other attributes to make up for it. Maybe for fullbacks pace is essential but not for all outfield positions.
I quite frankly refuse to believe that pace is essential, the day footballers are judged on their pace or strength will be a bad day for football.
Edin-whatever

That day lasts for a couple of years now... Strange how people forget about Zidane when it comes to all this pace nonsense. He was slow (though someone said on the other thread that his speed impression was deceptive - claiming Zidane was fast...), and yet a football genius. If you're a player, you're a player - pace is just a welcomed bonus.
There is an obsession with pace in England, but not just pace. Too much focus is placed on the physical side of the game throughout development of new talent and the end result is a serious shortage of creative, technically gifted players, which imo is a big reason why England have consistently been found out on the international stage.
The only player who currently fits the bill is Arsenal's Jack Wilshere as far as i can see, and you can thank Wenger for the player he has / will become.
Who the feck is Charlie and why is this trash on our board?

englands saviour
hes good but hes SO overated

Probably because the OP is as obsessed with Spurs as the rest of you blues
grandspurs :
IMHO was trying to prove he can do the Kyle Walker stuff.
The number of times he charged forward and was caught miles out of position, I thought twas a rerun of the Basel NextGen game.
The Corluka/Lennon combo works well when the former knows his place. Being caught out of position in front of Lennon is .
Chronic,
I wouldn't say he is over-rated. What does that even mean? Who has the last say on how good a player is? If you're referring to the media hype that surrounds him, i agree its OTT, but as a young English talent that is to be expected. He's only 19 and a part of Arsenal XI and probably not too far from England XI i'd imagine.

You've rumbled us haven't you, you little scamp.
I remember watching the back to back title wins, followed up a few years later with an amazing league and FA cup double, and all the while thinking "I wonder what's going on at the Lane today".
I just never realised it was so obvious, must try to hide that light under that bushell a tad better

Pace that the likes of Lennon has is not essential but Charlie is seriously seriously slow and I do not think you can be that slow and be a top prem player sorry.
Sheringham lacked a bit of pace but lacking a bit of pace and being outright slow is a different thing altogether.
Ah, but being able to READ the game can compensate for lack of pace. Teddy was a true master of that. Bobby Moore another.
RDBD
When people say Bobby Moore lacked a bit of pace they meant he was not super fast, I can tell you now he was twice as fast as Corluka and so was Teddy.
Corluka has to be the slowest top flight player I have ever seen in my entire life.
Lets stop this polite "Corluka lacks pace" cack and be honest. He is one step away from being bloody stationary when he is running flat out.

Charlie is slow and poor
