Same SStewards at Rugby games Jacko, Totally different attitude, We act the same at rugby, A bit noisy, jovial, sing a song or two and enjoy a few beers, A social afternoon out with whoever, My nephews run up(along with others) and down the walkway at the front chasing big G, chucking a ball about etc, They spoil nobodies views and just enjoy themselves when it is a dull game/lull in play etc, In the 4/5 years that they have done this I have only ever seen one ssteward say something to the kids, Several adults told the ssteward to do one and common sense has prevailed ever since.

"The Stewards" are to blame and people not sitting where they should in relation to their vocal support and their choice of tipple.

church congregations stand to sing because its the done thing..same as when saying the lords prayer..its a respect thing for what is being sung/said..
the extra punters go to watch big games or successful teams.. they can either sit or stand or come on pogo sticks, but they wont come and spend 20 odd quid to have a "few beers" with their mates whilst town dont win anything..they would be stupid to do so..
its a smokescreen for us being unable to play well at home..
brighton did ok in front of 7/8 thousand last year and you couldnt hear them, even on championship presentation day..
its just some other excuse..
the noise levels go up with the success on the pitch.. i watched millwall the other week at the den, it was like a morgue, no noise, no hate, no nothing.. they still won by the way...
12th man, my ars-.....

So all in all what we take from this thread is........................... we that sit, stand, sing, stay silent, moan, pi££, shi£, drink £3.50 half pint bottles of pi££ poor Carlsberg and pay £2 quid for a fecking Mars bar are the cancer of the club

church congregations stand to sing because its the done thing.
......WRONG 38.

It was many moons ago, But I can tell you 1st hand, Choirs stand to sing because it is necessary for the amount of 'air' needed to breath properly.....any & everybody 'Stands' to sing. It's the way.

"the ars-holes who stand at football matches all the way through do so because they are told they cant, thats all.."...................?
Thanks for those kind words
I seem to recall you yourself told us how much you enjoy being able to 'stand' at some away games

I stand at Football (When I can) because that's what I prefer, I enjoy it, (Same as most managers - up out of the chair when ever they can)
Re- the Millwall playoff semi at the Den,
How anyone could, or want to, remain seated during a game like that is beyond me, (but that's their choice)
& that, after being Sat on their a45eh0le5 for the 4 hours it took to get darn there, & the same on the way home..... lazy bar Stewards

What was it, 15 bob to go in the cheap seats at Leeds Rd, ....& 5 bob to stand on the terrace, WE HAD CHOICE.
That's the issue here, There is none now.
I say again,

15 quid for the Kilner, UNreserved seating, (standing)
If you don't like it, there's still the Riverside or the Panasonic (or whatever it's called this week ) CHOICE.

Hoyle.
get off your Ar** , & get Clibbins to do some work.
Bundersliga....Every week, Cheap entry 9comparative) A spectacle, It works, Governed from & by Brussels. They can do it. So can we.

here endeth the 1st lesson.......
You may be seated

if we all stood up all week..it wont make any difference..

i prefer to stand, but there are kids behind me so i dont, its called good manners..

the kids used to go to the front in the old terrace..health and safety wont let that happen anymore.. parents wont let their kids get out of their sight..

your banging a big old drum...its noisy but its out of tune and out of date..

we wont be standing at wendies but if it goes well it will be noisy..

take it from me, standing in church(choirboys aside) is a respect for the particular part of the service.. my brother is a priest.... kneeling is another respectfull part..

i guranteee i can make more noise, louder and for longer than you whilst sitting down.. i had 15 years practice at "shouting" over a varying cacaphony of noises... you had to be heard..

town havent deserved the full "bellow" for some time..

"your banging a big old drum...its noisy but its out of tune and out of date.."

? ...really.
Bundasliga...every game, every week.
Eredivisie.... " " " " .
The Kop, every home game,
Geldered End..every home game.
Chelsea,
West Ham,
Cardiff ,
L666s fans away at........................
THE GALPHARM

England v Georgia Rugby world cup 2003, Subiaco Oval..........
" 'kin 'ell Darn, Your the Loudest fan I have ever heard"

Huddersfield Town v Millwall, 1st leg..
mate sat in lower Riverside, Talking in Slubbers arms during after match drinks,

"Hey Darn, Me & John could hear you above all the racket...you noisy c***..." To which my regular attending mate, who sits in the panasonic upper (I was with him for that game)replied, "50 like him would outsing any fuggers"

As for not standing because there are kids behind you,
I SHOULD THINK YOU DON"T.

But you've missed the whole point...
That's exactly WHY some of us are calling for a Section, Area, Where those of us who want to, Can.
& those who want to sit in peace & quiet,(Assuming the Kilner is to be the 'standing area'.) will still have the option of TWO tiers darn the touchline side, & TWO tiers behind the goal.
It's a win win for EVERYONE.

& Don't miss understand,
I wouldn't be in the middle, behaving Badly.
I'd be the lone figure, away to one side, animated, Yelling out encouragement, trying to 'gee 'em up'
I want that choice, Like many more do by the sound of it.
& as for "Town haven't deserved the full 'bellow' for some time......Where has that come from,
What has that to do with what we are discussing above

So lets finalize.
Are you saying, 'If' the kilner became available, as an unreserved, pay on the day section, You wouldn't bother going in there, Even though you prefer to stand given the option.........
"Please Explain"

I'd say No.

we wont be able to stand..the disasters of the past will never allow the changes made since to be undone..
i would prefer to stand and move about a bit but football attracts far too many numpties, sadly, who could never be trusted as far as you can throw them..
a relatively small amount of people can cause mayhem..
the 2-3 ars-holes at old trafford are testament to that..

There you have it Darn, Some think it makes no difference having a better atmosphere, I disagree, If we had a "noisy" end where you could sit/stand with your mates, It may not help the what the players do on the pitch, But it certainly would not hinder them and it would definatley increase the enjoyment levels of attending the home games not only for myself but a helluva lot of people, Infact if the Kilner was unreserved i reckon it would be pretty full, pretty noisy and bloody enjoyable. 38 could enjoy watching the game in relative peace in the riverside with no interference from those that find it impossible to remain seated and he would also enjoy the atmosphere generated from across the other side of the pitch, Just like the old stand at Leeds Rd, Not in it, but part of it,,, win, win, win.

Thats the thing 38, The Kilner could be turned into a safe standing area just as they are in Germany,, Safer than seated only areas and allowed under Euro law,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, The jerks at Old Trafford were seated, In a seated area what on earth have they got to do with anything, You could have sun loungers and deck chairs and the same people would have done the same thing. Are you saying that the terraces caused the trouble in the 70s 80s ? Naughty terracing.

Time for a 'Truce' in proceedings.........for now at least.
(we are going over & over the same thing, & at the end of the day, all 3 of us would rather stand)

Would one of you be kind enough to tell me a bit more about ...."The Jerks at Old Trafford"...?
From what you are saying, it sounds like it was TOWN v TOWN fans ? What was that all about !

Firstly this is a one off for me posting on here but this is a subject that gets me.

Standing at Town.

The stewarding at Town is becoming ridiculous and if we are not careful we will have either outbreaks of fighting between fans and stewards each week or no fans at all.

Who do i blame for this, well for one i believe HTFC have to take some responsibility. They created the "singing section", they along with the stadium got everyone right where they wanted you to be... all sat together so they could keep a very close eye on you all in the same place
The chairman comes out with statements of "you buy the season ticket and we'll get you out of your seat"... shame he didn't add that it would be to be ejected.

The treatment of home fans is a disgrace. The stewards are actively looking to pick fans out each week but they are a bit more sneaky than just wading in willy nilly, what they do is watch them on CCTV at home games and collect evidence that you are persistanty breaking the stadium rules(mainly persistant standing) so in one game they note you have been standing and then without warning after 2 or 3 games of the same offences they come and pick you out for special treatment. You don't get any final warnings, you're out.
The worst thing of all is the club just try to fob you off claiming "it's nothing to do with HTFC"
Well stone me but you're happy to take our money but when we ask for a little help you don't want to know.
If kids cant see in the singing section then i've got a belting idea.... buy seats in the family stand! They have that option afforded to them and besides what kind of idiot would think the singing section would remain seated for large periods of a game?

I agree, I dont go in that end cos there are two many teenagers for my liking, But i do agree,, I and a mate who is 60 ! have been warned for getting up and down constantly ( isnt that part and parcel of watching sport) and have had 2 letters saying we may be banned, The letter also said we were using offensive language (we were not, as the people around us also told the sstewards we had not used foul language, when yet again they came to cause us grief, We do sit/stand on the back row so spoil nobodies view, The last time a ssteward came up to us he told us "he had been told to do so by his boss" ??? my mate politely told him something along the lines of "i dont go to work laying concrete in freezing buildings, all over the country, all week to come and watch Town and then have you telling me what to do, leave me alone, go get your boss and go get the police, Anyway tell your c**k of a boss he is supposed to be watching the cctv for safety issues not for spying and building a dossier against individuals, Do one cos your spoiling everybodies view of the game now", All said backed by a rousing rendition of "get a proper job", Since then we have been left alone. I do however think Town would be quite happy having a stadium full of kids n dads and stiffs n squares who just sit in relative silence, Great fun, Attendances will be fantastic in a couple of years.

Yet, as said earlier...you go and watch the Giants and it's a totally different atmosphere.

What's more, a lot of the fans at the Giants are Town fans too...(like me), and you go to Odsal and stand in unsegregated terrace...and it's a great...a bit of banter, which is fun, but the mindset of everyone is totally different. Why ?
