Actually when Song was on loan at Charlton he was actually pretty good and Pardew (i think) was raving about him.

Friend of mine is a Chalton Season Ticket holder and said when Song was on loan he was easily the best player they had and stood out every game.

but dont let someone who watched him sway you....

"It's no coincidence that since Lucas came into his own (during the last 2 seasons), Liverpool have had the best record against the top teams."

And yet you still couldn't finish in the top four. Does Lucas only play against the big teams then?

"His role is less important against the 'weaker' teams as we have more of the ball. The issue is with the effing chances we miss."

What you need is a player who can do the defensive work but can also get forward. Like Alex Song.

Oi - I'm 40 in a few 'weeks' (March), not a few days. And I'm not 'angry', I'm just miserable.

I like the posts where people say this is a pointless argument and then proceed to give their side of the argument. Those are my favourites.

my favourites are when people say 'this is a blatant wum' and then still write an essay in response to the OP.

Alex Ankle Snapper Song

Come off it this guy is no DM, hence why the attacking midfielder you bought for 10m from Everton plays the holding mid role and works a lot harder.

If he is your DM no wonder your defence is woeful sort it out Wenger

If a referee had the balls to book for persistent fouling Alex Song would see 4 reds (2nd yellows) a match

no he's not playing as a DM, Song is our most defensive midfielder but still not a holding player, we don't play with a sitting midfielder.

Arteta does more work defensively then Song, every time i watch you lot, and i watch a lot due to close cousin supports them, and if im honest he does his defensive duties way better then Ankle Tapper Song.

You can't watch that closely then, I don't see Arteta tracking back to make last ditch tackles in the box or nicking the ball off opponents as many time as Song. Ramsey is our most attacking midfielder and Arteta plays in between him and Song.

God you're boring Haroldinho. You've come up with a 'hilarious' nickname for Song and now you're going to blindly bang on about him until everyone agrees with you. Yawn.

Song is the best tackler we have apart from Koscielny and Vermaelen in and around the box. Ok he trips ppl up, but not in dangerous positions. Most likely on half way line when opposition are brealing away. He tends to take one for the team alot of times. His ball rentention is good as anyone. Can't take the ball of him easy.

Its not that i don't rate him, i just don't rate him as a DM, he stays too tight and usually gives away cheap fouls, i don't think Arsenal deploy a DM and i stand by what i said, i think Arteta works harder and has more success when defending.

And if you are happy with the loss of Flamini and Gilberto and happy with Song being the closest you have to a DM then i have to laugh.

That Coquelin is a monster, i also rate Frimpong but for me Coquelin has it all and fits the DM role. They are both great athletes with the pace, energy and desire. If these are not you DM's soon you could end up losing them as they will stick two fingers up to wenger just like the last ones.

I agree with you there, one thing about Song is he will go and attack at stupid times, Coquelin is more a Flamini type player who would suit us better. He's apparently signing a new contract soon, can see him overtaking Song within a year.

RAP, ask a question!
-------------------------
Why does Gervinho have a massive forehead?

==============

I'm glad you asked RAP. It's a long story though...

Whilst visiting the the country's capital in the summer I had the luck to bump into Arsenal's new exciting signing Gervinho.

I spotted the footballer in the distance as I walked back from a party. He was unmistakable due to the enormous orange he has for a head.

I was in good spirits after a few drinks and few hits of the mean green, so I decided to introduce myself to Gervinho and ask the question which had been bugging me, just how did he end up with an orange for a head.

"Excuse me Gervinho" I shouted. I'm sorry to bother you, and I hope I'm not be rude, but I've always wondered why you have an enormous orange for a head?"

"Well" Gervinho replied. "It's a funny story actually. One day i was walking through my home-town minding my own business and this Genie pops up out of nowhere, and says i can have three wishes. So i thought about it for a while, and for my first wish i asked fo be a footballer playing in the best league in the world".

"Wow" I said but why do you have an orange for a head?"

"I'm getting to that bit" said Gervinho The genie then asked me what will be your second wish be? I replied that I wanted to be rich beyond my wildest dreams and to my surprise my bank accounts were filled with millions upon millions of pounds.

That's amazing I replied, but come on Gervinho, what I really want to know is why do you have an orange for a head?

Gervinho appeared somewhat uncomfortable with my persistence and he shuffled about on his feet. "Well" he said and then there was an uncomfortable pause. "My third wish was in hindsight a bit of a mistake, I really ballsed it up to be honest...

.... for my third wish I asked for an orange for a head"
