Patience my friend, the time will come.

Raheem is really really young in fairness.

Can't throw him in against Stoke, he'd get battered to within an inch of his life!

posted on 16/1/12

Bolton is a perfect game for him to feature in, they have lost their best defender and Utd were hardly troubled by them, Give him half hour there and let him show us what he can do

posted on 16/1/12

Fair play but to get him dressed, warmed up and not even give him the experience of sitting on the bench. When (Bellamy) apart there was no pace or attacking threat at all?

And as for the boy being young! Owen, Rooney and Gerrard to name a few players who have had there chance around the same age or younger! You also have kids of 15 getting games in the championship and lower leagues and those leagues are tougher than the prem!

I think we should just play our youth team, as they are young, therefore better than the experienced international players, who played.

No way.. Raheem is only 17 and doesn't need to be thrown in. Imagine him making a mistake, people will start bashing him.

Sub appearances at home will help him a great deal

Or when the game seems to be won

It's building his experience.

I can't believe that gradually building a youngsters exposure to the first team is an issue of complaint.

But if we don't try him till he's 20, he'll still make the same mistakes that come with having no experience! Saturdays game would have been perfect late on, stoke were just lashing the ball out of defence and hold out for a point. Plus if we don't start giving the young lads a go, we will start losing them the same as we lost Ince, San Jose (who plays regular for Bilboa) they won't wait for ever!

Ince wasn't good enough, neither was San Jose.

When they're good enough, they'll play, as evidenced by Spearing, Kelly, Robinson and Flanagan.

Nonsense.

Throwing him into a pressurised environment would have been stupid. If the game was won possibly, but it's a mute point as he wasn't on the bench.

He will get his chance. Be patient

If that was the game plan, he should have made the bench. That would have given him more experience of actually being part of the team.

Nd the main part of the complaint is that out of 6 outfield players on the bench, 3 were fullbacks. Why did we need 3 fullbacks on the bench?

This was for King Luis' last post.

Erm, how old was Shrek when he banged that one in against Arsenal?

I dont agre that what hapened to sterling was a problem but i agree with the full back thing..last 2 games we've seemed a bit obsessed with having full backs on the bench.

We played five defenders. Kelly was cover for centre back, Flanagan for right and Aurelio for left.

Merv,

Not all players are the same or have the physicality to deal with premiership football at a tender age - Rooney and Gerrard did.

He will make his debut in the league this season I'm sure. But the management are choosing to up his big game experience gradually.

It's a sensible move imo.

16 and look at him now. Banging old women.

King Luis lets not play with IF. Playing him at young age doesn't mean he'll be better at older age. If he's good enough when he's start playing first team football wouldn't affect him. Also it's always better if they all progress together and get promoted together. That's what United did with Giggs, Scholes, etc and Barce with Xavi, Iniesta, etc.

The youngsters will get a chance this season, it is just getting started...

Kelly can act as cover for cb and rb and Flano can play rb and lb (as he did last season) so that then negates the need for Aurelio and yes we played 5 at the back in the game, so that means out of the 16 out field players in the squad 8 of them where defensive players! Against a stoke team that came for a point and played the immobile Peter crouch up top on his own?

I'm not going to argue about the terrible tactics. However Kenny was playing five defenders and 5-4-1. This meant we needed cover for the defence and three players, is right, knowing Aurelio can also play in midfield and we have only one other striker.

We then changed to 5-3-2, which meant we had no need for wingers, at all, so Sterling, even if ready, wasn't going to get a game.

Kenny did not play 5 defenders, he played 3 defenders and pushed the wing backs forward.
Tactics worked well last year, we beat Stoke 2-0
