Good luck to all the others, fit or injured. Andy Murray is sweeping to his first Major Championship. You know he is good, and it simply has to happen, and the time is right. Heia Muzza

"Andy Murray is sweeping to his first Major Championship. You know he is good, and it simply has to happen, and the time is right."

Since you are obviously a fan, I'm curious to know what is the difference between this year and last year AO, in terms of this year the time being right, esp. bearing in mind the draw which is a lot tougher for Murray from now on compared to last year?

Experience, form, patience, love of the surface, Ivan Lendl, the list is endless really. Djoko is superb but I just have a good feeling about Murrays chances this time. May the best man win.

I suppose neither of the have been tested, so it's hard to judge.
Things hotting up for Murray now, will be interesting.

It's opened up even more now for murray, i'm not saying andy's last 16 match is a given but against monfils it could have been a long hard war of atrition which could have taken a lot out of him before the likely meeting against tsonga.

the signs are good and given andy's interview after his superb display today he's in a very relaxed jovial mood.

i'm with you maksi, this is our man's time

Agreed Pol, our man has his chance and playing these top players leading up to the final are only going to sharpen him up nicely. Let's be honest, the big 3 are still an enormous task, both for him and for everybody else, even for those 3 who have to meet each other, but the very fact we mention Andys name in the same company as theirs is a massive compliment to him, and I can not understand how some people do not understand that. This is the highest level on the planet, perhaps in the history of the game, and Andy Murray is amongst them. Win or lose, I admire the lad.

I think Murray may struggle against Tsonga, although I expect him to beat him.

The real problem for Murray are Novak and Nadal.
I look forward to his potential match against Nole in the SF.

Meeting Novak in the semi final is going to be ideal for Andy. If he loses there then he will know that Novak is simply just too good for him again, and he can go home in the knowledge of having played well in another excellent Grand Slam. However, if Andy does beat him then he could not get a better springboard to the final, where he will surely feel that the tournament is his? Novak is after all the man. Andy will wipe the floor with Tsonga. I am suspecting Andy is a fraction better than you think

I'm impressed that you know what I think....
I know exactly how good Murray is, but I know his weaknesses, too.
I suppose that's the main difference between a fan and a non-fan, you can see the weaknesses much more easily.

Also, you as a fan reflect the same kind of mindset as Murray with this sentence:
" If he loses there then he will know that Novak is simply just too good for him again, and he can go home in the knowledge of having played well in another excellent Grand Slam"

That's the wrong way of thinking. When you lose you lose not because somebody else was better, but because you didn't execute your game.
The belief is the key difference between Novak and Andy.

I can see you don't understand it. That's the whole point.
I'll tell you a little personal anecdote: when I was about 6 I managed to convince a girl who lived in France (not French) she couldn't speak proper French because she didn't live in Paris.
I couldn' t say a word of French, but managed to convince her I could speak better French than her.

I could never understand why she chose to believe me despite not being able to understand any of my French-sounding mumbo-jumbo (think Delboy), but she did.

Belief is everything

37 degrees forecast for tomorrow...
I don't know how anyone can play in those conditions.

Ref your story, you would have to be 6 to even try a stunt like that The world number one beats the world number 200 because he is simply far too good. The world can "believe" and be as positive as he wants, but he aint gonna win? What sort of game is he supposed to execute?

Nothing wrong with Andy Murrays beliefs either, he knows what he wants and he certainly gives it his best, every single time. Surely we can not ask for more than that?

He is playing superb players at the business end of these Grand Slams and it is not easy for him.

As I said earlier, he is far from being the worlds best player but I have a feeling he is going to win this one Just a hunch.

Fair enough. Are you saying others are not giving their best?

To be honest, I am not too interested in how much effort the others put in Would be great seeing a Brit win a Grand Slam Tennis final, especially in an era of 3 living legends, who will retire as fully fledged legends for sure

I know it would be good. I can't even begin to imagine Murray's joy.
I'm just trying to put a perspective on it, because media tend to put so much spin and hype onto him that he end's up looking like a failure just because hasn't won a slam.
I'd be massively cheesed off if I were him.

I can understand the medias hype. Any Brit who loves tennis is bound to get excited about the prospect of one of our players winning a Grand Slam, and therefore conquering a whole host of talent to achieve it. What chance does Britains Nr 2 have of even getting into the second round?.

"You can't begin to imagine Murrays joy" ?? How do you know that he even cares if he wins one or not? I know I don't. He is a good player who gives his fans hours upon hours of joy. Could be worse?
