and that does sound like a better system than ours having people who could be working not
Nothing chicken! sometimes we do have talk about off topic subjects!
Serial - thanks but I'm relieved, I was actually thinking about quitting and going to another region so getting money is a bonus!
But actually wanted to know about the UK unemployment rules really!
But actually wanted to know about the UK unemployment rules really!
========================
I can break my pint glass on my bosses head and find out for you, if you want?
You do that serial!
Anyway off to my Spanish class, see you later for the Barca - Madrid match!
BTW chicken - you are a little 'pot calling the kettle black' about off topic subjects
UK Benefits are messed up!
My gf (now wife) tried to claim job seekers allowance but couldn't because I earned 'too much'. We weren't married or even living together yet they required to know what I earnt. I should have said I wasn't willing to disclose that information to her because she was on my girlfriend.
Anyway just have a load of kids and generally become a burden to the system and you should be fine (in the UK), make any effort and it all starts to go wrong, I'd not mention learning javascript off your own back
what do you mean rules?
you claim for a benefit and they either give you it or not
the simple one most people get when unemployed is job seekers allowance,it's around 105 pounds every 2 weeks,if you don't prove to them that you are looking for work they stop paying you for 6 months

I've never been unemployed in the UK but it seems you can practically claim indefinitely for unemployment benefit. Is this true?
-------------------------------------
This won't be the case soon. There is a welfare reform going on right now. If it's passed, the JSA will no longer be indefinite. There are loads of caveats though, I can't be bothered to go into them on a football forum.
did you not appeal against your redundancy?

I don't want to
I wanted out anyway, I could've stayed quiet going to work and surfing on the Internet and studying computer programs but I was bored out my mind!!!!!!
So i kept on complaining that I have nothing to do, they did a review and realised it would be better if I left.
If my position is needed again they would employ me again. I think the whole business will fold anyway soon, it's poorly run!
Plus I think I need a change of city!
living here like you but in Valencia, things are pretty bad...just stay positive, enjoy the queues at the Parot....and find yourself some more work....
ahh ok.
From how i read your OP, you did sound devastated!
Was you an office worker? That seems so boring office jobs.
Totally expected and kind of forced by myself!

My initial job role was suppose to be between sales and engineering, suppose to travel loads meeting customers around the world. I did the first few months, but then it died down.
No, I'm relieved I got some money.
I may leave Barca too, people are too miserable. I better get in as many free Barca matches as I can
@Valencia - I heard I don't have to go in?
So I shouldn't come to Valencia then?
I've got lots of family in Extremadura. Its bad there as well. I think Spain is going to have lots of problems for the next 4/5 years.
well firstly Barca es muy caro, no?...i dont know your living arrangements, if you rent an apartment on your own etc...but valencia is probably 50% - 66% of the cost of renting in Barca...thats my opinion, i only know valencia costs...and i dont what you worked at mate....
Valencia - Barca is totally overpriced and overrated to live!
I've got a place until the end of march, I'm only paying 600 euros all inclusive as I'm sort of house sitting! But I think the guy pays about 800 euros, but I'm not sure if it includes bills or not. In any case good quality places are around 800 euros plus bills, but accommodation here is overpriced and poor quality.
I actually find London cheaper than Barca sometimes! well barring transport!
yeh that doesnt surprise me....you can get a very decent 1/2 bed apartment in a very decent part of valencia city for 450 - 500 a month....i live elsewhere at the moment but intend to rent an attico in the heart of valencia within the next 6 weeks....and yeh i also heard that barca whilst great is full of old people who dont like too much fiesta!!!...was in madrid last year with Spurs, wow great city but also very expensive, like london/paris....
That is super cheap!!!!
nah, people party in Barca but not like Madrid, things end a bit early here!
Thing about Barca is the Catalans don't want to mix with the locals, so foreigners hang out more but as everyone speaks English, you can't learn Spanish!
So would you recommend I try Valencia then?
well, why not....go there for a weekend, check out the city, you have some cool districts, like el carmen, rustafa and botanico for areas to live and then you have also el plaza de la reina, which is like the centre...but definitely, you could stay at Silken Puerta which is a very cool hotel from about 50 a night!! check out booking.com i am probably gonna be up there the weekend of the 3rd, checking out some cool atticos...
