Red666,
With the importance which this country places on the captain of England (wrongly in my view as I have previously stated), I find it odd that a player with such a chequered past would be chosen once again as captain.
Terry is innocent until proven otherwise. But the captain of England and all the benefits John terry receives from it, I would have expected a less controversial player to have been chosen, or at least a player who should be guaranteed a starting place in the team. The england captaincy makes the player a guaranteed starter which infuriates me.
Just to reiterate I couldn't careless who the captain is, but John Terry doesn't really fit for me.

It fits perfectly with your profile of Chelsea obsession

Put hatred to one side and pick the best defender
This is about England as much as Chelsea.
Just wait until the summer when there's no football and the JT case will take prominence. You can expect a explosion of posts on the Liverpool B board calling your club racist ect, if found guilty.
I wouldn't do that of course. I only post on the Chelsea board when the subject of discussion is Liverpool. There is always a lot of posts about Liverpool on the Chelsea board, or the Liverpool B board as it now known
See. Obsessed. You know too much
There must be evidence against Terry, otherwise the case wouldn't even get to court.
Whether the evidence is enough to prove guilt remains to be seen.
In the meantime, he is innocent and should be treated as such.
My issue with him as England captain is more to do with his mediocre form, but I do take PPD's points about the captain being a less controversial character.
Scott Parker, for example, has become an important part of the England set up and isn't a complete tool, likewise Joe Hart.
Either should be captain in my opinion, fitness permitting, leave Terry to concentrate on getting his best form.

Good call mate I see your point
Lecott is not on the same level as Terry. Terry and King are the two best English centre backs at this moment in time. In the next level down you have Cahill and Lescott.
There's already someone to blame for England's poor performances
I blame the fans and the media. You can almost sense the fear in the players' eyes when they step onto the pitch in an England shirt.
Joe Hart would be my choice.
a) He's undropable.
b) He fits this non controversial footballing figure the rabid english media crave, cementing the 'Bobby Moore' stereotype us fans are spoonfed as the ideal.
Terry should be left alone to prove his innocence bt fans of all clubs and countries, but the fact he will be leading England in the Euro's is and odd one for me.
Will Redknapp be clean imaged enough to be the next England manager for you then ?
Hart should definitely be England captain.
