Pienaars thoughts on Modric

But Levy never denied it in all the press releases in the summer.

In my eyes, Levy has said to him, "ok, I realise what I said, give us one more season, and you'll be free to go is x club comes in with y amount of money".

Also Levy is quite a vocal chairman, but his silence has been very unusual. Even when Modric spoke about leaving a couple of months ago.

-------

is he? hes really not. can you give some examples where he has been vocal in anything other than an issue that was at the forefront of the clubs mind at the time, such as the modric saga or the OS?

hes not like harry who just talks for the sake of it

levy is a very very very good chairman and he will only sell modric if the offer is high enough for him and he has a replacement lined up

This time last year he stated categorically that Modric or Bale would not be sold under any circumstances.

That's very vocal for a Chairman who doesn't know what the managers plans are.

You can imagine what you want was said by who to whom but there is no suggestion he would get a different answer to when the issue was raised in the Summer.

If I was Levy I'd just ask him if he still wants to go Chelscow now they are 6 points, 1 place behind us and I game ahead. Wonder if he's interested in winning football or just more money?

Remember, we made the first call to enquire about his availability. Gill called Levy. Levy said no, and we left it.

Paddy Crerand is good friends with Joe Jordan and he said on MUTV that Joe Jordan said basically you guys have to sell to buy.

Modric can be replaced with Kranjcar, Huddlestone, Sandro and Parker. Plus Livermore can fill in there.

That's pretty much one of the only examples from his very long tenure (and a very welcome one it was too!)

He generally plays his cards VERY much close to his chest and generally says little, if not nothing. When he does speak (Modric, Bale, the OS) there's a lot of thought behind it, and he's like the cagiest of poker players.

The manager's plan was to sell Modders (we know that from him and his son bleating in the media) and bring in 'three or four world class players' Thanks to Levy only that didn't happen and, the two Manc results at the start aside, look what's happened.

In Levy we trust

What Crerand might say MUTV makes no difference anyway. Harry has been saying since he came to Spurs that we need to sell first. It keeps buying prices down. He usually explains that we need to sell the dross not the best but no one picks up on that.

Heres a clip of Levy & Modric though.

Modric will go to United this summer. He clearly still wants to leave as he keeps coming up with the 'We'll see in the summer' and 'I'm happy at spurs for now' like statements.

no he will not clearly go anywhere. with 4 years left on his deal he will go precisely when levy sanctions a sale for him, so the ball is firmly in our court similar to you and fabregas for all those years

Fabregas told Wenger that he was no longer motivated to play for Arsenal. If Modric loses motivation then he will not stay, it is as simple as that. I too believe SLM's theory that like what United did with Ronaldo, Levy asked Modric for 1 more season and then he can go.

Don`t compare Spurs players with Arsenal players. Your players jump ship at the drop of a hat. Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy, Toure, Adebeyor, etc. Probably RVP next season

Spurs lost Carrick six years back, and Berbatov four years back, and that is all.

Modric is contracted for another four years, so will not be going anywhere. He certainly will not be even considering playing in the Europa Cup with Chelsea now and Man United have not got the minimum £50 million to buy him anyway.

Arsenal are a selling club going nowhere, Spurs are building for a very successful future.

Levy has made it clear about selling our stars.

If we end 4th this season, or better, decent FA Cup run, there is no reason that modric can demand to leave like last season.

I expect a thoroughly miserable window in january, firefighting rumour after rumour.
