I'm having one of those mornings where I'm totally disillusioned with the game.. Sport by its very nature should be fair and competitive but what we are seeing now is anything but. When will this cherry picking of players by Europe's elite ever end, what chance do we stand of ever being successful ? The only way in my eyes is if you can't beat them - join them!
Our current predicament in the Bale saga highlights the importance of a new stadium or (and I never thought I'd say this) - a heavy foreign investment. We are so far down the pecking order for top class players these days that only one of these options will see us maintain a sustained high level of competitiveness - League title challenges and not just top four!
I'm tired of seeing good teams torn apart by these mega rich teams. Porto, shaktar and Dortmund have all built excellent sides over recent years, only to be ripped apart by the football mega riches. The cycle needs to be broken.
Has your stance changed on having a mega rich foreign owner ? Will it if bale leaves for pastures new ? Are you happy simply being a 3rd tier side in the European hierarchy ?
Build and they will come..

If we had a system like Porto have, I'd wouldn't mind Bale leaving tbh

I doubt they would get away with it if they were an English/German/Italian club, but yes, as long as the base level of your squad is high and remains intact, these things are not a problem.

The best players move to the clubs that have the best chance of winning things. It's not really anything new is it.

not necessarily
players don't move to Anzhi / Monaco / PSG / Man City because they have the best chance of winning things

Arsenal used to do it well. Unfortunately for them, Wenger seems to have forgotten key ingredients for building a top side instead of just a very good one - ie leaders and fight in midfield, in addition to being able to just play as he currently favours.
I think we'd actually be in a prime position to use the funds received - Baldini is in place, AVB has Levy's trust, and the two men seemed to have a good relationship even before coming here.

The world will not collapse if Bale leaves, people need to realise this.
