3 Films That Scared You

Afternoon Lads

Putting last nights horror show to one side, what are 3 films (if any) that have genuinely scared you / freaked you out?

The Blair Witch Project - this one tends to be either adored or despised but you'll find many people made their minds up at the cinema amongst 200 giggling teenagers all stuffing their faces with popcorn. Try watching it alone at home - it's a deeply immersive film that doesn't need to show much to get the heart racing.

REC - You may have seen the half-decent American remake (Quarantine) but for real scares, check out the original Spanish version. Creepy as hell.

Poltergeist II - Number one is revered and rightly so but for me, seeing Reverend Kane in the second film as he tries to get into the Freeling household has got to be one of the spookiest scenes I've ever scene.

28 Days Later as a 12 year old watching it for the first time gave me nightmares like no other film

Rec (The original Spanish version)

Sinister with Ethan Hawke is a great horror too

I liked the conjuring films and the first two Insidious films too

The problem with Stephen King movies is I have read the book first, and no way can a film match my minds interpretation

Yep... I do like The Shining as a stand alone film, but the book is just a far, far more in depth experience that tackles so much more than just "guy goes crazy". In the book, you are heartbroken for Jack as it all unravels.

Totally agree, the book was mikes better. Plus they skipped the entity at the end in the movie.

Had mixed feelings about the film to Kevin. The book is utterly sensational and chilling.

I haven't read the book, but I found the film disturbing. With that in mind, I'll give the book a miss !!!

Not necessarily scary but a good modern horror is It Follows. Clever idea.

Of recent horrors, I did find The Descent pretty scary.

Insidious has some weirdly disturbing bits.
