Rec isn't nice.

Silence of the Lambs was an unnerving film.

Ghost Watch scared the life out of me as a kid.

Jacob's Ladder - Sat staring at the screen for 15 minutes in silence after it ended.

Pet Sematary - Not the movie but the book - had to stop reading every few pages because it just facking scared the shiiiit out of me. The movie is soooooooooo bad compared to the book.

SAW - saw one, the first one, and that was the end of it dont want to see any SAW movie ever again

One special mention, IT (the first movie), clown scared the living daylights out of me for 2.5 hours, until the last scene and then it just turned into a comedy.

Growing up it used to be films like Halloween (original) Evil dead and Nightmare on Elm street.

As you get older not many movies

Blair witch project is shiiit but scared me as a 15 year old

I actually still find Paranormal Activity scary, especially the first one. Some of the night scenes in that film, as the timer is moving and you notice weird movements just freak you out

The bit where the woman just gets dragged from the bed scared me shiiitless as well

Rec was great. It was good in every way Blair witch was shiiit. I’ve seen Blair witch both in cinema and at home. It’s rubbish. I got bored over half way into the home watch with not one hair on my neck anywhere near sitting up.

Alien - now that’s a proper scary film. Best creature enemy in history, and sone amazing set pieces.

The thing- it doesn’t get more twisted effects wise than this brilliant film.

Elm Street indeed with Robert Engluuund (spam filter Evil Dead is comedy gold classic.

But as you get older these horror movies like Friday the 13th etc, are pretty much just comedy

If never scary films haven't seen many but went round to my mates one night for a drink and some girls were round. He pulls our paranormal activity and I'm like, "yeah, put it on. No problem"

Get home 3 hours later. Mrs is In bed asleep and baby is on her own room fast asleep. About 10 mins later BANG, huge noise from babys room. Sent the missus in only to find a pic have inexplicably fell off the wall.

Chit me up for days

Still not seen Jacobs Ladder

I too have only seen Saw 1 and whilst I didn't find it scary, I did think it was excellent.

And IT ... how could I forget seeing Georgie pulled into the drain. That'll mess anyone up who had the displeasure of being under 12 when they first seen it.

Portrait of a serial killer was one of those banned films that failed to live up to the hype, as did Straw Dogs

My notable mentions:

Halloween (1978) probs my fave of all time;
Blair Witch Project;
Paranormal Activity 1-3;
SAW 1 & 2 (can't comment after that);
Thought the Conjuring 1 was really well done;
Annabelle: Creation literally made me have a panic attack in the cinema (but that may have been due to other factors );
The original IT (I was about 6 when my bro made me watch it!!)

I've heard The Wailing is awesome - next on my list

No matter how old you get, a noise in the night will always get the pulse racing.

American Werewolf in London.

Watched it when I was about 6 or 7. Sh*t my pants. Not literally, obviously. But I still struggle to watch it now. Had such an effect on me that I can't watch any Werewolf films. Tried to watch Dog Soldiers many years ago. Failed.

Recommended watch

Brilliant movie, acting is fantastic, Tim Robbins looks genuinely confused in this movie and so was I. And then the ending. Brilliant.

I've heard great things about The Wailing. Den of Geek did an article on the best horrors of the 21st Century and I'm sure that's amongst them. Check it out...
