Messi...

Simply the G.O.A.T after breaking yet another record:

Has anyone on here ever had the fortune of seeing him play? If so, shout about it in the comments.

I'm lucky enough to have seen him live plenty of times and have seen Leo score some beauties, including a hat-trick just over 12 months ago. What a footballer! The game will die the day he retires. Below are some of the best goals i've seen him score:

*not the best goal, but there was a story to that night: The weather in Barcelona was horrendous! A thunderstorm and torrential downpour that made Manchester's weather look like Miami; so me and my mate were worried the game would be called off, we'd started our day at 3am just to go! Early into the match and lightning nearly hit the stadium but when Messi scored it all became worth it. My pal booked us into a horrible hostel too, like the Turkish prison from Midnight Express and we boarded the flight home 7 hours later in soaking wet clothes and shoes.

If the game dies when he retires, then what was the game before Messi, in the OP's opinion?

I have watched Messi, and Christiano, many times over the years, both are great players and the top two ever in my opinion, but when Messi walks onto the pitch the whole stadium ,wherever it might be, is mesmerised and enchanted,( I know I know it's Christmas !)
I was in Madrid a few years ago when the Madrileños stood and applauded him off the pitch after he completely dominated a great RM team at that time. Neve to be forgotten.

I too was at this game, had a feeling you were talking about this as soon as rain was mentioned. The worst downpour I ever seen, and it went on for a couple of days if I remember correctly. But definitely worth seeing Messi and Iniesta in flesh

I’ve seen him live at the Camp Nou when Barca played Bilbao I think it was. I remember it was the front 3 of Messi, Henry & Eto and that Barca won 5-0 or 5-1
