Rumours going around that Liverpool will make an 8M bid for Malouda.

Very late, but oh well. Steve-United would have to pay ATLEAST 175K a week to get Sneijder.... He was on 175 AFTERtax at inter right now. So due to our higher tax charges tounited would be paying about 300k to cover that after the tax deduction. Apologies for any weird formatio or what i posted this from a phone.

Raymond Verheijen who is Wales assistant coach and who has worked closely with Hiddink before has said that there are "interesting developements" at Chelsea, on his Twitter.

posted on 7/6/11

Verheijen was also Hiddinks assistant during his time at Chelsea...

Wonder what the developements are....

"interesting developements"

Does that sound like a good thing, doesn't sound great to me.

Unless he means he is getting the assistant job.

Interesting article.

It says that Hiddink has 3 choices he can make.

Sources close to the Dutchman say he is strongly attracted to the sporting director role occupied by Frank Arnesen until a fortnight ago, even though he has pointed out that at 64 he is not too old to coach.

A third scenario is that Hiddink will be appointed as manager for an interim period and groom a younger coach such as Gianfranco Zola or Marco van Basten to eventually take over from him before moving upstairs.

Abramovich is believed to favour the most successful Dutch manager in history taking over as manager with full responsibility for team affairs, as he did two years ago. Hiddink has continued to work as an informal adviser to the Russian billionaire in the intervening period.

Would probably be Van Basten.

I think Zola would take it, like you say aslong as he had a gaurantee that he would be the next manager after how ever long.

I can see Hiddink only managing us for this season, then moving upstairs and Guadiola coming in. As this will most likely be his final season with Barca.

Guadiola coming in for next season* sorry

Yeah I'm fairly confident It will be Hiddink, assistant position is anyone's guess.
We need a back up keeper,Imagine If Cech gets injured we would have to have Turnbull in goal he just ain't good enough.

posted on 7/6/11

Yeah, we do need a good keeper on the bench. Cech does tend to miss a few games a season.

It's as high as 43%? In that case then yeah, I agree, Inter probably wouldn't be coughing up 307k/week for it. The only reason I thought the 175k after tax could be true was if their tax rate for highest earners was much lower.

Keepers:Cech,Stockdale or Begovic(not sure If he would want to be second choice, now that hes 1st choice at Stoke),Delac(third choice)

What about Wayne Hennessey? I rate him very highly as a keeper, but that would be more a signing to rival Cech rather than play backup, as he is currently first choice at wolves.

Also, Delač does look promising. I wouldn't mind him being number two and we would be able to see if he really was a serious contender to replace Cech in the long term. He can't be worse than the two clowns we currently have.

I;d struggle to believe sneijder is on 175k per week after tax.

on the goalkeeper issue I don;t see begovic wanting to be 2nd choice. someone homegrows would be essential for the numbers so maybe Stockdale, westwood is available for free isnt he? Chris Kirkland isnt great but would be a decent back up, better tha turnbull. Gilks at Blackpool is an excellent keeper and would be cheap so would be my first choice

I think having faith in Delac is the best way forward, move him to number two.

Pretty sure with him only being 18 we will get three seasons out of him before 21 to make him home grown at the club. Which is always a bonus.

The only thing with Delac is that he didnt even start a single match on loan at vitesse last season so I'd imagine him being a few years away from first team. I'd imagine him playing for the reserves next year or maybe again out on loan.

I;m still unsure on his work permit since he is croatian and has no caps.

posted on 7/6/11

Have work permits even been declined, though? I can't think of any, especially on appeal as well.

posted on 7/6/11

And on the work permit, even if declined, Croatia is expected to become a full member of the EU in a year or two, rather just just a candidate. So worst case scenario would be to keep loaning him out for a while.

work permits often get declined. Rajkovic for example has been loaned to dutch teams since we got him aio hw can gain a work permit. Alex was the same which was why we had that agreement with PSV

Yeah if he spends 2 more years in holland he'll be fine, or if he gains a few caps he'll be fine.

there might not be an issue at all it's just strange to loan out such a young player to sit on a bench all season if there isnt something more to it.
