Brighton could have built three Amex Stadiums with the £282m received/agreed from Chelsea in the past three years: £60m for Joao Pedro, £60m for Marc Cucurella, £25m for Robert Sanchez, £115m for Moises Caicedo + £22m in compensation for Graham Potter and his five-strong back-room staff + undisclosed sum for Paul Winstanley. Not pure profit, obviously, Joao Pedro cost £30m from Watford, Cucurella £15m from Getafe, Caicedo from Independiente del Valle £4m, agents fees etc. Plus🏟️building costs have risen. Just highlights Brighton’s superb recruitment and that Bloom and Barber are the Astaire and Rogers of nimble negotiators. #BHAFC #CFC

Kudus has been identified as a primary target by Tottenham, who are believed to be optimistic they can clinch a deal for well below his £85m release clause. Chelsea had shown an interest in Kudus, but they are completing the signings of Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro. (via @Matt_Law_DT)

Surprised we’re not interested in Guehi anymore. Probably get him for £30m.

Minus penalties Joao Pedro averaging 5 goals a season in the PL. Kind of poor considering the team and position he plays in.

Just to play devil's advocate, I wonder what is Palmer's scoring record without pens.

Every signing is a punt at the end of the day lol. Both Delap and João Pedro are more than just potential though, they're already PL experienced players. These aren't totally unproven rookies lol. Both had excellent seasons just gone.

There arederp out of the money punts and deep in the money punts. In general we specialise in out of the money punts, but tend to pay in the money prices.

Love how this guy adds every single thing together to try to make a point. He's probably being going through the bins to see how much we paid Brighton for some hot dogs that one of the coaching staff paid for at the Amex lol.

Also love the way that addons automatically gets included in the price when it's a Chelsea player. It's £50 million for Pedro with possible addons as far as we're aware so far.

Oh and we're very very happy with Caicedo and Cucurella thanks very much. Both have been great signings. Even Sanchez for £25 million has served a purpose playing a huge amount of football for us. So based on our overall success with buying Brighton players there's good reason to think that Pedro is at least going to be a decent signing. Thanks Henry Winter

Don't really like this signing if I'm being honest. It's a bit ropey league level (like Neto), feels like a signing Spurs would make.

One of those signings I'd take if we were clearly short & deadline day was approaching, as a goal of sorts it's underwhelming. Nkunku, who I'm guessing he's replacing, is a better footballer.

Gittens I'm actually alright with. Fee's a little steep but the boy's got pedigree - Chelsea, Man City & Dortmund is pretty much your ideal education as a youth player today. That's a punt that looks good on paper.

‼️ Joao Pedro is not merely a finisher - rather he's a facilitator, disruptor, and spatially intelligent forward who enhances those around him.

He is a player who embodies the modern, multi-functional forward, and could quickly become a central figure in Enzo Maresca's attacking blueprint.

I get the impression Guehi is happy to stay at Palace for one more year, and then leave on a free next Summer when he would presumably get a nice signing bonus. I’d be happy to get him next season.

Pedro Neto and Pedro both feel like Pep signings actually to me

But he signs players knowing exactly how to use them and how to eek 10% more out of them at least than has been seen before

‼️ Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Benfica was the fourteenth time across all competitions that we have scored four-plus goals in a game under Enzo Maresca; the most by any Premier League team since the Italian’s first match in charge in August 2024.

‼️ Robert Sánchez has saved 76 per cent of opposition shots on target at the Club World Cup (13/17). Indeed, based on the xG of attempts on target faced, he has prevented three goals across his three appearances in the current tournament (+3.1 – four conceded from 7.1 xG on target).
