If he matures at the required rate, I see a lot of promise in Delap. He actually offers exactly what we need to break down the low block teams.

The Delap saga in the summer was quite funny. I'm not sure I've seen such demand for what was gunna be a very meh signing for all the clubs that wanted him bar maybe Everton
----------------------------------------------------------------------
the price tag more or less makes him a free hit

He could have played a very important role in the Spurs game
Now we are looking at Guiu and George basically
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's been a disastrous signing so far. Only upside so far is we only paid 30 million for him. Wish we'd bought Woltemade instead but alas the club weren't interested in spending a bit more money for him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How has he been disastrous? What childish nonsense is this
He played well albeit with some rough edges in Club World Cup and then got an unfortunate injury after starting fairly brightly
Honestly, one red card and you lurch to extreme opinions. Pathetic how reactive people get on here
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Disastrous in that he hasn't played particularly well when he's actually played, got injured for months almost immediately into his Chelsea career and then idiotically gets sent off straight away on his return playing in one half of football. And up until the beginning of November his only contribution of any note is one measly goal against Espérance Sportive de Tunis in the Club World Cup.
Whichever way you look at it, it’s been a terrible start to his Chelsea career. Between the injury, a needless red card, and just one goal in a low-pressure Club World Cup game, he’s given us nothing yet to justify the signing. He needs to stay fit and start showing why the club saw him as Jackson’s replacement. Because at this point I'm really regretting that we let Jackson go for this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was decent in the Club World Cup - goal and an assist, made an impact vs Palace first game of the season. Then got injured.
So, yeah, I think your wailing and catastrophising is pathetic.

Remember a nice cross for a goal, another goal, some excellent harrying of defenders... and a decent impact v Palace then an injury and red card.
Very reactive fanbase these days if that's 'disaster'

i do think its mean to bash players for injuries
he has to own the red card, but his random injury is pretty standard for our squad - he actually seems to have come back quick too

It's a very Wenger's Arsenal type of signing though. It's a little bit too safe. Based on last season I think he's a decent player, but I'd be surprised if we ascend with him as a main striker.
I'd have gone for Samu. Would've broke the bank, but watch him play for 5 minutes & tell me that's not a (successful) Chelsea striker

Pretty much this, was the player I thought of too. But so far we have had all the sheethousery and none of hold up/linkup play or goals and will be without him for an important match when he is needed and available. Bunk him with Cucu

Delap needs to get his head out of his fackin ass & realise he's at a top club now...not some relegation threatened provincial town club
Maresca if he's got his nut sack in the right place, reads him the fackin riot act & ideally in front of the rest of the squad so he understands exactly what a fackin 'tard' he looks...
A touch of community work for a week or two wouldn't go amiss either whilst he's 'indisposed' might teach him a bit of humility.

I’m almost certain Estevao will also start the game. Both wingers must track back though. Spurs have full-backs who love to go forward, so if the Chelsea wingers do not help out in defence, their team will get overrun."

Now you’re talking. This is what we should have done BEFORE buying two other wingers for £100M

Can see this being our saga next summer. I was wondering why he didn't come up when we had the Simons/Fermin links but a player like him + the club we're dealing with, probably needs a bit of prep work

----------------------------------------------------------------------
the price tag more or less makes him a free hit

even if we are disappointed and have to sell him we probably get most if not all the fee back from like West Ham or someone

So, yeah, I think your wailing and catastrophising is pathetic.
posted 1 day, 3 hours ago
Remember a nice cross for a goal, another goal, some excellent harrying of defenders... and a decent impact v Palace then an injury and red card.
Very reactive fanbase these days if that's 'disaster'
posted 1 day, 3 hours ago
i do think its mean to bash players for injuries
he has to own the red card, but his random injury is pretty standard for our squad - he actually seems to have come back quick too

🗣 Paul Merson: "Chelsea must start with Pedro Neto in this game. It’s a big pitch at Tottenham and he’s quick as anything.
I’m almost certain Estevao will also start the game. Both wingers must track back though. Spurs have full-backs who love to go forward, so if the Chelsea wingers do not help out in defence, their team will get overrun."
