when they played chelsea at eastlands last month was worse. it was at the time their biggest home game in forty plus years and they still coudn't come close to filling their modest capacity of 48,000. i was embarrassed for them. and what's more they didn’t even make a noise all night until they scored. that just would not happen at old trafford. i don’t care what anyone says. we get, and give ourselves, grief for the noise levels at some home games, but for a midweek evening game of such importance, we’d have carried our team through. can you imagine what we’d be like in their situation? no hope for years and then all of a sudden chance to end a long drought? you don’t have to, because it’s exactly where we were in 1993. look at us then compared them now, like night and day. and their celebrations at the end that night were cringeworthy too. night. and. day.

Drivel is as drivel does, anyone else not read that past the first sentence or two?

Home end was packed for Chelsea, the only bit you picked out with empty seats was in the Chelsea section. I was embarrassed for you, as was everyone else on here.

They didn't turn up to watch Juventus in the UEFA cup, a competition they hadn't been in for generations even when the tickets were going for 20 quid.

I got a seat for the game but I gather from the excuses we heard it was a church night or something.

Rags are like Hobo's - They travel from their homes in Mid - Lancashire by hiding on slow moving freight trains and start playing harmonicas when the teams walk on the pitch.

Lets not rattle on about 'turning up', because we all know the most laughable one is the fact you lot were 960,000 men down from '99 in your 'parade' last summer.

... Even though according to Rio it's the City fans that move in and out of the woodwork.

ah right, so the gurdian who also criticised the emtpy seats in their match report the next day were also incorrect were they? there were empty seats clearly visible in the front few rows, so god only knows how many were vacant in the third tier. city simply published the attendance based on season ticket holders and their initial estimate on what the crowd would be. as the game was hastily rearranged due to chelsea's involvement in the fa cup without much prior notice a lot of supporters who had purchased tickets will have been unable to attend, that's a fact. i'd be much more interested in the number of people who actually passed through the turnstiles that night rather than city's ticket sales estimate.

Ole if this is you son, I don't think you've fully grasped this fashion lark;

those of who you can should go into town on monday. you'll find every single pub full of reds. it's always the same on any derby day, whether we're home or away.

All clubs calculate their attendances by adding season tickets to the number of match tickets sold. That's the figure they have to pay tax on.

The City fans like to give it large but they know that we outnumber them massively in the City as well.

The fallacy that they have more support is a story they tell people who aren't mancunians.

The City has always been red

How anyone can refuse to turn up to a cup game against Juventus for £20 is criminal

"i'd be much more interested in the number of people who actually passed through the turnstiles that night rather than city's ticket sales estimate. "

It's computerised. They count the cards and tickets as they are scanned at the turnstiles and this is the number that's provided to the FA at the end of the game.

Still, please feel free to keep going on about attendance, because we all know that turning up to games is worth at least another point. Even if you only turn up to eat prawn sarnies, dress like Norwich supporters and take photos of your heroes, before you catch the ferry back to Dublin.

Ole once saw Green Street and thought Stone Island was essential wear for a football fan.
