The Monday Night Wars were a period of mainstream televised American professional wrestling where the World Wrestling Federation's (WWF, now WWE) Monday Night Raw and World Championship Wrestling's (WCW) Monday Nitro were broadcast opposite each other in a battle for Nielsen ratings each week. The ratings war lasted from September 4, 1995, to March 26, 2001.

WCW ultimately ran into financial difficulties as a result of the amount of money they had promised wrestlers during a hiring binge in the early and middle part of the decade, which had been aimed at acquiring large portions of the WWF's talent roster. Despite efforts to salvage the company, it was ultimately sold to Vince McMahon, ending the Monday Night Wars.

I am actually finding this the BEST storyline Coronation Street has done in a very long time. So many people are totally unaware of coercive control or the lengths it can go to without the person ever actually lifting a hand to their partner. I picked up on Jeff being a wrong 'un when he played cruel and unfunny practical jones on Brian. I wouldn't be surprised if it suddenly dawns on Tim, as it all comes to light, that he did this to Tim's Mum as well. Fabulous acting from both actors.

Reading brought Barnsley's Championship resurgence to a halt as goals from Yakou Meite and George Puscas gave them a long-awaited home league victory.

Meite bundled in their opener from close range as Barnsley failed to clear a free-kick before Puscas curled a shot past Bradley Collins on the hour to make it 2-0.

The Tykes failed to make the most of a number of first-half chances and may have found themselves ahead on another day had Reading goalkeeper Rafael not made some smart saves.

This is Liverpool's worst performance of the season so far. The winter break did them no good at all. They haven't looked themselves since.

Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich played out one of the most bizarre conclusions in the history of football as they passed the ball between each other for 13 minutes after a long delay for an offensive banner in the crowd.

Bayern were 6-0 up when their travelling fans unfurled an offensive banner about Hoffenheim president Dietmar Hopp.

Coach Hansi Flick and most of the players pleaded - angrily in some cases - with the fans to put it away. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic and board member Oliver Kahn - both former players - also attempted to talk to the ultras.

Referee Christian Dingert eventually took the players down the tunnel and the game was suspended for about 20 minutes.

The match eventually restarted from 77 minutes, with fans told it would be abandoned if the banner appeared again. Bayern's and Hoffenheim's players then just kicked the ball between themselves - with goalkeepers not in their goals - to get the game to its conclusion.

At the final whistle, 79-year-old Hopp, Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and the players stood on the pitch and applauded Hoffenheim fans in a show of solidarity.
