Senegal reached the quarter-finals of the 2002 World Cup, with Diop going on to score twice more in the 3-3 group-stage draw with Uruguay.

He also featured at four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, including when Senegal were runners-up in 2002. He retired in 2013.

Diop helped Portsmouth, who were managed by Harry Redknapp at the time, win the FA Cup in 2008.

"He was such a wonderful character," Redknapp told BBC Radio 5 Live. "He was fantastic for me, a great character, always happy and always had a smile on his face. He was a giant of a man.

"He had no aggression in him. He looked aggressive on the pitch because he was so big, but there was nothing nasty about him.

"My thoughts are with all his family."

Eighth-tier Marine scored a 120th-minute winner to shock 10-man Havant and Waterlooville in the FA Cup second round.

Captain Niall Cummins converted from close range with seconds remaining after the visitors failed to deal with a free-kick.

National League South side Havant had to play the whole of extra time a man light after Anthony Straker was sent off late on for a second bookable offence.

The game seemed to be destined for penalties but Marine, who knocked out League Two Colchester in the first round, found a late, late winner.

The Merseyside club, who play in the Northern Premier League Division One North West, had the better of the few chances created in normal time.

And it was experienced striker Cummins, 33, who dived in at the back post to force the ball over the line with his back after a free-kick was headed across goal.

"I'm not going to lie; I closed my eyes and it hit me in the shoulder or my back," he said.

"It is a dream come true for everyone. It was a tremendous effort and it'll live long in the memory."

Beavers have built a dam on Exmoor for the first time in more than 400 years.

The rodents were released into the wild in Somerset in January this year as part of a National Trust project to restore streams and reduce flooding.

Beavers became extinct in the UK in the 16th Century due to hunting, but have been successfully reintroduced at a handful of sites in recent years.

The trust said the dam "might look modest, but [it] is incredibly special" and had "created an instant wetland".

Wildlife camera footage shows the beavers gnawing trees and collecting vegetation to build the dam at the Holnicote Estate near Minehead.

Their construction can allow for deep pools of water which offer animals shelter from predators and a place to store food.

They can also work as natural flood-defences, helping to reduce the risk of homes flooding downstream.

National Trust project manager Ben Eardley said: "It might look modest, but this beaver dam is incredibly special - it's the first to appear on Exmoor for almost half a millennium and marks a step change in how we manage the landscape.

"What's amazing is that it's only been here a few weeks but has created an instant wetland.

"We've already spotted kingfishers at the site, and over time, as the beavers extend their network of dams and pools, we should see increased opportunities for other wildlife, including amphibians, insects, bats and birds."

Will singer Adele send Chorley a good luck message before their FA Cup third round tie?

Giant-killers on the pitch. Karaoke kings off it.

Deforestation of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil has surged to its highest level since 2008, the country's space agency (Inpe) reports.

A total of 11,088 sq km (4,281 sq miles) of rainforest were destroyed from August 2019 to July 2020. This is a 9.5% increase from the previous year.

The Amazon is a vital carbon store that slows down the pace of global warming.

Scientists say it has suffered losses at an accelerated rate since Jair Bolsonaro took office in January 2019.

The Brazilian president has encouraged agriculture and mining activities in the world's largest rainforest.

The Amazon is home to about three million species of plants and animals, and one million indigenous people.

National League Boreham Wood will host Championship outfit Millwall in their first FA Cup third-round appearance after beating Canvey Island.

Kabongo Tshimanga found the bottom corner for the visitors from the edge of the box in the eighth minute against their eighth-tier opponents.

Kane Smith struck the fifth-tier side's second midway through the first half as his powerful shot was deflected in.

Matt Rhead put the result beyond doubt with seven minutes remaining.

All third-round ties will be played over the weekend of 8-11 January, 2021.

Cheese is great for your teeth. Not only does it have high levels of phosphate and calcium, which naturally strengthen teeth and bones, but it also helps balance the pH level in your mouth, which means less harmful acid, more cleansing saliva and fewer cavities.

New immigration rules will be "simple and flexible", ministers have promised, as the UK's points-based post-Brexit system prepares to go live.

From Tuesday all foreign nationals, including from the European Union, who want to work in the UK from 1 January will have to apply online for a visa.

Those seeking a skilled worker visa will need a job offer, to be proficient in English and earn at least £25,600.

Free movement from and to the EU will come to an end on 31 December.

The UK left the EU on 31 January but has been largely following its rules during the subsequent 11-month transition period, as the two sides try to reach agreement over a trade deal.

The saddest thing about remembering the if any chances you never took in your younger day's. Is realising today that those chances you remember missing were just in your imagination. You erroneously just though you had a chance looking back at that time. If it was have meant to have been then it would have been.
