A team of scientists is being sent to the South Atlantic to study the giant iceberg A68a.

The 3,900-sq-km behemoth is currently drifting offshore of the British Overseas Territory of South Georgia where it threatens to run aground.

If that happens it could make life extremely difficult for the wildlife haven's penguins and seals as they go about foraging for fish and krill.

The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) will lead the expedition.

The researchers will approach A68a in the Royal Research Ship James Cook.

They'll use robotic underwater vehicles and sampling instruments to see how the frozen mass is influencing its environment.

Big bergs change the temperature of the sea around them and introduce huge volumes of fresh water as they melt. This affects conditions for all marine life - from the simplest planktonic organisms all the way up to the biggest creatures in the ocean, the whales.

Victor Adeboyejo scored late on as Barnsley came from behind to beat Preston North End and earn a third consecutive Championship win.

Sean Maguire put North End ahead inside two minutes when he headed home after Cauley Woodrow failed to clear Paul Gallagher's corner.

Barnsley were level after the break as captain Alex Mowatt curled home for the hosts from long range.

They took the lead with 10 minutes to spare when Adeboyejo worked on to Woodrow's delivery to complete the turnaround.

Karim Benzema scored twice as Real Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao to move level on points at the top of La Liga.

Athletic's Raul Garcia was sent off early on after two bookings for fouls on Toni Kroos, who put Real ahead with a first-time drive before the break.

Ander Capa equalised for Athletic at the second attempt after he had a shot saved by Thibaut Courtois.

Benzema scored twice to win the game for Real, heading in and then drilling an injury-time second.

That clinching goal came moments after Courtois denied Mikel Vesga an equaliser with a fine save.

Real have now won four games in a row in all competitions as they continue to turn their season around.

Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are all on 26 points at the top of La Liga.

Marc Veyrat, 69, took the Michelin Guide to court in September demanding that it explain why it had stripped him of one of his three stars a year after awarding it.

He had said the only explanation he had been given was that he had used English cheddar in a souffle, instead of traditional French cheese - an accusation he said was false.

member (n.)
c. 1300, "body part or organ, an integral part of an animal body having a distinct function" (in plural, "the body), from Old French membre "part, portion; topic, subject; limb, member of the body; member" (of a group, etc.)," 11c., from Latin membrum "limb, member of the body, part," probably from PIE *mems-ro, from root *mems- "flesh, meat" (source also of Sanskrit mamsam "flesh;" Greek meninx "membrane," mēros "thigh" (the "fleshy part); Gothic mimz "flesh).

In common use, "one of the limbs or extremities." Especially "the secs organ" (c. 1300, compare Latin membrum virile, but in English originally of women as well as men). Figurative sense of "anything likened to a part of the body" is by 14c., hence "a component part of any aggregate or whole, constituent part of a complex structure, one of a number of associated parts or entities."

The transferred sense of "person belonging to a group" is attested from mid-14c., from notion of "person considered in relation to an aggregate of individuals to which he or she belongs," especially one who has united with or been formally chosen as a corporate part of an association or public body. This meaning was reinforced by, if not directly from, the use of member in Christian theology and discourse from mid-14c. for "a Christian" (a "member" of the Church as the "Body of Christ). Meaning "one who has been elected to parliament" is from early 15c.

Skin is the largest external organ of the human body. It is a vital organ and provides outer covering, which protects from external elements. It also functions by protecting our internal organs from the invading pathogens, regulates our body temperature and pH, prevents dehydration and also functions as the main sense organ. In both animals and humans, skin functions as a barrier between outside and inside the environment. The skin acquires an area of 19 to 20 square feet on our body surface. Therefore, it is called the largest external organ of the human body.
