These are the 3 deals that I see most likely happening. I'm not saying these are the players I want, but these are the players Wenger appears to be interested in.
Fúcking clown. You've just proved my point.

Castor, just thought I would highlight a couple of my comments that may make you reconsider your belief that I am in the Wenger Knows Brigade or whatever it is called...
Things we can do now, January and beyond...

We all want massive changes at Arsenal, from owners and boardroom level, manager and backroom staff, down to playing staff. However a mid-season mass change will not happen, and we have to understand this.

Worse than Grahams last team?

is arguably better than what we have now.
A strong defence (Keown and Linaghan also in the squad), a striker who was prolific (with Alan Smith, John Hartson, and Chris Kiwomya as back up).
Even the workman like midfield would cause the current team problems.
Yes the squad had Morrow, Hillier, Selley, Helder, Jimmy Carter and a few other awful players, but compared to what we have now it is no drop in quality!
That team finished 12th, flirting with relegation. This current team won't finish much higher.
George Graham worked miracles with his squad, but he went stale. We got lucky and were given an out with the bung revelations. Without them who knows how long Grahams past success would have kept him in a job. 17 years later and we are in the same state, but without a convenient excuse to part with the current stale boss.
Sometimes you need to change things. Now is the time.

Well Don, muppet? Anything to say?
George Graham/Arsene Wenger...

1st off, you can stick your bin bags up your 'arris.
Now, I am not passionate about "Wenger Out", nor am I part of the "Wenger Knows" brigade.
I am in awe what he has achieved at our club, and eternally gratful for what he has done.
But at the same time I understand everybody has a "use-by" date.
We do not know exactly what is going on behind the scenes in regards to transfer funds, is it the board not willing to spend or is it Wenger who is reluctant to break the bank (a bit of both most likely).
But the fact is we will not spend big. Some say because of this no-one can do as good a job as Wenger. This may be true, but I believe a fresh approach can be as effective as a couple of world class signings.
Our squad isn't THAT bad, we have a couple of areas of weakness, namely up front.
Bringing a new manager in could have a massive positive effect on the club. It would take the comfort out of the attitude of some, and would offer a new start for others.
Many people argue that Wenger shouldn't be sacked because of what he has done for Arsenal. They say his success and transformation of the cub is unparalleled.
But didn't George Graham achieve something special in his 9 years at Arsenal?
In 1986, when a 6 year old Dukuzurureyi started supporting Arsenal we had not won anything since the 1979 FA Cup success. 7 seasons of nothing. Not competitive in the league.
Then Graham came in, and brought with him a new philosophy. Tony Adams, with little experience in the first team, became the leader and club captain. Established international stars like Viv Anderson and Kenny Sansom were quickly replaced with younger cheap players like Dixon, Bould and Winterburn. The engine room was freshened up with a good mix of young exciting players like Thomas, Merson and Rocastle added with experience of Kevin Richardson.
He also brought in a continental style of play, 5 at the back.
Pretty soon we had gone from a club that finished between 10th and 6th to the 1989 and 1991 league champions.
In 1992, and the introduction of the Premier League and Sky Sports, things changed. We began to fall behind the clubs with a bit more money to spend. Foreign players began to be imported more and more, and sadly we struggled to keep up. Whilst Manchester United were bringing in the likes of Schmeichel, Cantona and Kanchelskis from abroad we had Lydersen, Jensen and Schwarz. (Limpar was a great success though).
It became clear to most we needed a change of manager. The cups were still flowing (something Wenger has not matched Graham in) with an FA cup/League cup double followed by European success in the Cup Winners Cup.
The signings became more desperate, McGoldrick, Hartson, Kiwomya and finally Helder.
Only the board seemed oblivious to the need of change. Only a non-footballing incident brought about this, but not before we had slumped into a relegation battle. Who knows how long the board would have backed Graham without this intervention.
Grahams 8 years as Arsenal boss brought with it 2 league titles, one FA Cup, 2 League Cups and 1 Cup Winners Cup. 6 trophies in 8 years for a club that pre-Graham were going nowhere.
Bruce Rioch is derided by many, but at least he took us back up the PL table, to a decent 5th placed finish and UEFA cupo football.
Then Wenger came in. He didn't spend fortunes, but he brought a fresh approach. In came a host of players he knew and had faith in, Vieira, Garde, Anelka, Petit, Wreh. And very quickly Wenger had moulded his team, and reinvigerated the squad Graham and Rioch had left into a double winning team.
Now we find ourselves in the same situation as we did in 95. Going nowhere, looking stale and out of ideas. But we are unlikely to have an intervention along the lines of a scandle to make the board act.
So where does that leave us? With a board unwilling to change and a manager so set in his ways and idealogies that each season we watch our team get visably and obviously weaker, but hear the same stories of how we are still competitive.
Change is often good.
Don Vito has won this one by knock out. Easy win.
Whoa, chill out. Well the splash the cash thing may be going a bit far, but you weren't exactly against signing him were you? Not in the same way you were huntelaar, who I recall you implied was something of a joke at real, that was my main beef at the time anyway.
In fairness who didn't want Chamakh back in the day and wasn't happy when he left for West Ham?
What I've learned though from all this is to never comment on a player you haven't ever seen play. It'll just bite you in the ass.
D'jeezus - I was clearly wrong on that one.
AHB, on my mother's life I didn't want us to sign Chamakh or Gervinho. Once they were signed though, I gave them a chance and tried supporting them.
I said I did not want to sign him. And so fúcking what if I didn't want to sign Huntelaar. It was 4 years ago. Things change. I won't chill down because you have proven how sad this board is, trying to go back 4 years ago to prove that I contradicted myself or changed my mind (and failed might I add).
4 years ago we had RVP, Eduardo, Bendtner. Now we have Giroud and Walcott, is it any wonder why I would want a striker who has scored 40 goals in a season opposed to a striker who flopped at Real Madrid? Hmm? Difficult for you to understand? Pathetic.
Yo Castor are Bent, Benteke, Jelavic, Cisse etc still better than what we've got?
Be nice to Don, Batmanu. He's a hero.
Sheesh, you asked me to prove it, so I did a quick google and found that, what are you getting so arsey about it for when you asked me to do it? And you did not say "I do not want to sign him" you said:
"He's been quality for Bordeaux, and although I didn't think we should break the bank for him, and thought our attack was fine the way it was, there are a few question marks over Eduardo at the moment"
AHB, on my mother's life I didn't want us to sign Chamakh or Gervinho.
----
Okay, okay I believe you. You'd be a fool to lie as Don Vito has just so amply demonstrated.
That sounded like I was begging my life. Dunno why I was so serious...
Yeah careful Kam, you don't want to get archive-slapped.
Yes I asked for proof that I wanted us to break the bank for him, you posted proof of the complete opposite and try to use it against me
Just accept defeat and move on Batmoanu. It's no biggy, it happens to the best of us.
The whole Chamakh/Huntelaar thing, is the implication that Huntelaar would be no better than Chamakh? Or what's the point then?
Yeah splash the cash is a poor choice of words there, already agreed with you.
There is no point I was just wondering when he changed his mind as we had a bit of a disagreement about him being crap sometime ago
