American TV remakes is just a smaller version of Hollywood remakes of movies from other countries - usually annoyingly worse off.

they do make some good telly though, the pacific is the greatest tv programme ever made, closely followed by band of brothers

Scrubs - one of my all time favourite comedy's as it has a fair bit of drama in it as well as the comedy. Zach Braff is a great actor and they chould have ended it at season 8, it was a perfect ending IMO and they messed up making the 9th series.

Prison Break season one was the best series of TV I have ever watched. Was brilliant. Americans can make great TV so why do they need to attempt to make ours?

Ricky Gervais has one of those faces I would never get tired of slapping

I've never got round to see Boardwalk Empire and Breaking Bad yet, but people tell me they're class.

...........

They are OK, but IMO, Justified is better than both of them.

Imagine what the Americans would do to our beloved Corrie if it was made into an American version?

I tried to like the office but Gervais' smug face ruins it

I've never seen The Office either. I want to see it so I fully understand the comparisons with Brendan Rogers. Must be brilliant.

My exact reason for hating it is Ricky Gervais as well.

Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm is a hoot. Toe-curlingly funny.

I just watched too many war films as a kid, where the Yanks won it for the totally inept British, although the tv series you mentioned, which were specifically made round particular all- American action, were excellent.

If United Did Beers

I was at Comicon last summer and was lucky enough to meet the Todd and get a high five and a picture with him. Absolute legend.

people go on about the office as if its the greatest thing ever made, it was appalling, same with peep show, everyone raves about it, its mildly amusing, its not laugh out loud funny in the slightest

I think Friends is in your face garbage. Sorry Rob

I know Gervais isn't everyones cup of tea but him and Steve Merchant have made some amazing TV. Extras was even better than the Office imo.

I'm one of the few Derek fans that I know of. It's really quite good and Karl Pilkington is excellent.

To be fair I didn't really like anyone from The Office cast, including Steven Merchant.

Gervais was never funny, but most people would have just disregarded him as not their cup of tea if he wasn't so smug. It is the smugness that accompanies his mere presence that makes him so dislikeable.

Watched the pilot episode last year and thought it was awful.

Ricky Gervais is an atheist like me so he's like a hero.
