I am a big Gervais fan but Derek is dross, as was the 3rd series of an Idiot Abroad and Lifes too short. I think Ricky is finding it more and more difficult to make something that matches the office.
The thing with American comedies is that they go for quantity over quality. Friends/Scrubs/HIMYM/Frasier/The Simpsons etc should all have ended before they actually did. They tend to milk successful shows for all they are worth without maintaining the early quality.
Also, the over use of laughter tracks is annoying
Ricky Gervais is an atheist like me so he's like a hero.

there's plenty of better athiests to look up to rob, including me, worship me instead
Mexican, I would worship you but I can't see you.
If I wanted to worship things I couldn't see I wouldn't be a very good atheist

Comment of the day right there. Well done Sir

That shouldn't be hard.

Not hard to be honest, just get someone else to do it.
The only thing of his I have like was An Idiot Abroad, and even then I hated it when his face appeared on the screen. Series 3 was boring because it was so predictable, Karl moaning, Ricky saying "Do it!". Karl either moans, quits or does it, done.
america dont need to remake other tv shows as they produce very good shows themselves

One thing the UK sucks at is cartoon comedies.

American TV is very lucrative though, the money to be made is too great to end anything. Charlie Sheen was getting like $1million an episode to do Two and a Half Men- and that's nothing special!
To be fair, Ivor, Shameless went on a good 3 series too long. Most programmes do.
blackadder is the perfect example of a truly great programme ending at the perfect time
Some of the dramas coming out of the US are top notch. The likes of HBO and Showtime have made some brilliant shows. Fox, on the other hand, have made some truly awful shows.
Only Fools went on too long, also.
It should have ended when they got the money and left the flat. It was a great ending.
the thing ive found annoying over the last 2 or 3 years is that my 2 favourite american drama's Lie to Me and the Chicago code got cancelled they were facking brilliant

I agree with that. In my mind, the Trotters will always be millionaires.

Or is it? It is more of an example of a show stopping at the right time, then coming back because they couldn't help themselves (Back and Forth) Only Fools and Horses did the same. Ended, then came back with inferior product. Inbetweeners will do the same most probably.
Just curious, what did you guys think about Lost?
Did any of you watch it from start to finish?

Lie to Me was a fantastic show. Tim Roth was just brilliant.
I just found out, too, that Leverage was cancelled in December so I am sad about that
