Yeah he did didnt he, Park and Giggs and Valencia in midfield
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can see why he went with Park tbh - he was a runner who stopped pirlo playing that season.
Valencia was just back and having a good effect on the team.
Did carrick start the match?
Did carrick start the match?

Yes
ah couldn't remember - i have blocked alot of that night out.
Yeah he did didnt he, Park and Giggs and Valencia in midfield
..........
What really angered me is that before the game, he said he wasn't going to make the same mistake as he did the previous time.
And that is exactly what he did.
The thing is, in that game, if memory serves me right, Giggs covered more ground than any other United player, very closely followed by Carrick.
Not Park
Pretty sure most of us were crying out for a 4-5-1 with Rooney up front from the start.
The other thing that SAF wummed me with was leaving Ando on the bench and bringing on Scholes to replace Carrick.
I think...
that Glazers have their own circle of 'football advisors' that they consult with in America, that have no connection with United but who they have trusted for opinion and advice... for a long time, well before the take over. Dont forget they inherited Fergie and SBC...great assets that they are..but they were not their appointments,
Just a hunch of course, If I were they, I would anyway.

I think you are way off target.
In fact in all the years i have known you on these boards, that is the daftest thing I have seen you say.
Evidence points to the Glazers relying on SAF to run the football, not a panel of yank advisers.
Who exactly do you think they would listen to in America.
A bit harsh there...
The Glazers own it so i'm sure they'll sort the replacement their own way.
Florida is overrun with Brits including a former United director.
Expats everywhere.
The Glazers wouldn't need to hire locals.
Not saying the claim is true at all, just that the world is a lot smaller these days.
LA and New York are the same.

Believe me, our owners do not take football advice from anyone this side of the pond.
They leave the football side of things to SAF. They have done since day one.
Your owners may be different though.
if you say so
seems an awful lot on one man though
basically you're saying they don't speak to anyone but Fergie or at least people who repeat what Fergie says. Which seems pretty hard to believe.

It is SAF for gods sake. Why would they take advice from anyone else?

I am sure they speak to plenty of people. I doubt they take their advice if it is to do with football.
Please, don't confuse the Glazers with H&G and the current clowns who own Liverpool.
Tell me, my wumming little dipper friend, who would you take football advice from, one the the greatest football managers of all time, or some no mark in the USA who thinks he knows about football.
Take your time with this one soft lad, there is some thinking involved..
they must have taken advise about PL football well before they even started the buy-out.
Of course they let Fergie (and Gill) run the club in Manchester... but they would be idiots if they didn't keep a tab on it all with independent advise, occasionally especially at the beginning anyway.
There are plenty of 'football experts and advisors' in America. Im not saying they are American or that they even live in America.

Quite probabbly RB&W.
They were already connected to the club, if you remember by virtue of being major shareholders.

but they would be idiots if they didn't keep a tab on it all with independent advise

And likewise, they would be idiots to sek independent advice from someone not qualified to give it. And we all know the Glazers are anything but idiots.

One of United's former directors lives an hour from Tampa which is where they own an American football club.
Maybe they have a pint with him from time to time to ask for advice.
"It is SAF for gods sake. Why would they take advice from anyone else?"
because he bought Djemba x2 and Bebe FFS
surely that creates enough doubt that they have an independent set of eyes look at things before writing big cheques.
Anyone who runs a billion pound business has many advisors and checks in place. They're not idiots.
And Fergie is so busy trying to actually manage the team there is no way he has the time to deal with 'all matters football'.
I see all the RS are jumping on this thread, and they call us bitter. Bat_out_of_hell can give it bit can't take it. We've got one player on £70k, and he cost us £15m, not exactly a lot in this day in age. Villa out spend Everton and we regularly finish above them.
