It's hard to tell the truth now, but if we'd signed Pellegrini and City took Mourinho, leaving Chelsea with Moyes, what would you be saying to their fans.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, they'd probably talk about how Moyes and Pellegrini have much the same trophy records.
....

Say it ain't so.

He spent £200m in one summer at Real and got a record points total, still losing the league, he must be world class.

What I expect over the next 3 seasons.

1 title
At least top 3 in all 3 seasons
1 cup
At least second round in all 3 seasons in Europe with at least one semi final appearance.

But it all depends on how much money Moyes is allowed. If he is on a similar budget to what Sir Alex has been on recently then the above applies. If he can go out and get massive names then obviously those targets will change.

How would people judge Moyes if we finished 3rd this season, lost in the FA cup final and got to the first knockout round of the CL? Then next season we finish 3rd again, quater-final of the FA cup, group stage of the CL and win the League cup?

For me, it's more a case of showing some patience and not just being all gloom and doom at the first sign of things not going well. Even during Fergie's best moments, there have been times when his selections have been questioned, and whether he was up to the job anymore. If that can happen with Fergie, then I fear it will be worse with Moyes. I fear it, because Moyes deserves to be given full support, and not fans just saying 'this wouldn;t have happened under Fergie', when it probably had done at some point.

I just don't want every time that something doesn't quite work out that it's 'that's because Moyes isn't a good enough manager', rather than allowing Moyes a bit of time to settle in. Don't get me wrong, if we are 17th in April, then I'll be panicking like the next person , but let's not fall into panic mode if an ideal start isn't made or if there are a few blips.

Of course I want Moyes to do well immediately, but a bit of short-term pain for long-term gain (relatively speaking) wouldn't be a disaster.

I hope that having the new manager and the impetus that it can bring will lead us to playing abit more Uts-style football. Although we scored a lot of goals, from mid-season on it was our defensive strengths that seemed more prominent than our ability to play attractive football - we weren't overly dull, but we use to create so many chances, and I'm hoping that we can get back to that level again. RVP's amazing first season helped hide that fact so I hope all the players are raring to go to impress the new boss, and who knows, Moyes may have a few ideas that will have us saying ' why didn't Fergie do that?'

I can't argue with that

BUT the question still stands, would you be calling for his head if he failed to deliver any of the above or even came close?

It's not my style to call for anyone's head so i'd be pretty chilled but if the scenario that you mentioned did occur I could completely understand supporters wanting him out

But Rob, a "no vote" is a vote for the wrong party (if you get my drift) Not having or voicing an opinion on whether a manager is fired or not is not in the best interest of the club ... or not?

Rock Steady

I love football and United but not so much that i'd ask for a man to lose his job! Life's waaay too short to chant at games etc.
That's not to say i'd be upset if he was fired (in a scenario where he was failing) but i'm sure there would be plenty of other people doing the shouting.

Rob, I'll have banner bad made up on your behalf then. As it happens, i'm working on one now. Anything special you'd like me to add to it? Keep it short though, cos the words "OUT NOW" take up a large percentage.

Hmmm, 'Giggs 4 new manager'

posted on 16/6/13

It's rather simplistic to say "if Moyes doesn't achieve said thing would be be sacked" as things will need to be out into context.

If we don't win the title for the next 3 seasons because City and Chelsea are better than us, is it fair on Moyes?

Under Fergie we went 3 seasons without a title because our competition was better. Making targets for a manager based on the next 3 seasons is very difficult as what our rivals do is as important as what we do.

Let's say, for example, Hazard's form is that of a Balon D'or contender - not beyond the realms of possibility - would it be fair for Moyes to be sacked because he doesn't have a player of that calibre? I'd say no.

These type of things make it complicated.

What would you know. You said Brazil wouldn't even make it out of their group

posted on 16/6/13

Rob, don't expect any objectivity from me with regard to Brazil. Plus, they'll still lose to Italy and Mexico and finish 3rd.

@Rock Steady.

Just did my workout and realised each "week" is only 6 days long before the programme.

Thus only 3 upper body, 1 cardio and 1 legs plus a rest day.

Digs I've gotta admit mate, i thought 4 upper body per week sounded a little bit of over training with very little rest time inbetween. What supplements are you on at the mo?

As i'm cutting i'm off the creatin and unable to lift the same weights which is doing my head in a bit. I'm mixing my protien shakes with soya milk on training days...fookin horrible, feels like i have throw-up in my bottle just to improve the taste!

Stay on the creatine, it doesn't have anything to do with bodyfat.

Drink your shakes with water mate, if you are serious about cutting then no need for the extra calories.

Oh and it is 4 upper-body workouts within 7 days but it's spaced out pretty well. I was really sore by day 5 but today was ready to go again.

I'm taking creatine, whey protein and d'aspartic acid as I have been for the past 6 months. The only real difference in my diet from upping calories is incorporating protein bars

posted on 16/6/13

I hold too much water with creatine and losing the definiton. Had the power when on it but had to sacrifice that by looking bloated all the time.

On none training days i'm only using water with my shakes! On training days, soya shakes help replenish my electrolytes!

Protein shake for brekfast helps, stops u snacking

posted on 16/6/13

Think its not great to have too many different shakes though, all very acidic. If you eat meat its so easy to get protein

posted on 16/6/13

A great protein shake would be Lamb mixed with beef and lentils and eggs.
