Agreed. All those people who said England will walk this series are having to eat their words and I knew the Aussies would be quietly confident. They never go down easy.
Trott needs to steady the ship here, we need desperately need a partnership. Mind you, I expect our bowlers to get through a relatively weak batting side.
We wont know how much trouble we're in untill Anderson starts bowling IMO
I'd like to think he can clean up here but...
Watson - two maidens from his two overs so far. Certainly controlling one end.
Australia bang on top - as Boycott says: "Just add two wickets"
Hopefully, all those clowns predicting a 10-0 whitewash over the two series will now shut up.
It's hard to make out from this Australia bowling performance but I think they are doing very well so far.
Yes conditions are good for bowling but it's also quite a slow pitch so really they cancel each other out.
104-3
Trott please stay in don't lose an easy wicket
Good play by Trott, four runs off the over out of nothing really
I think we will be happy to see Watson bowling- good at keeping the run rate down but doesn't impose any real danger, which is good for new batsman settling in. Milk him I say.
Get this partnership to 200 would be fantastic, a solid 300+ puts us infront, and with our bowling attack we should get them out
Australia will continue to take wickets because of the conditions but they need to relax with the runs. As mentioned 280 will be a very good score.
I for one think we are in for one of those close games.
Trent bridge has been a shakey ground for us as far as the Ashes is concerned, glad we finish at the Kia Oval as we have a great record there!
Best days to bat are two and three - Clarke could take this game away from us if he continues his immense form.
I hope Ian Bell has a good series, he is a class player, but if he doesn't perform then I have a feeling England may well get rid of him!
Anderson and Swann can win games on their own in half an hour spells too though. I think we will fancy our chances in own conditions with a par score. But yes we need that.
Bell is very technical, and can either get out very cheaply or get a good score
In many ways I actually think Bell is our most talented batsman. Some of the front foot shots he plays are just brilliant. The tendency he has to get himself out cheaply when settled is what seperates him from the rest.
Oh god Strauss as a pundit
The best thing about him is that he supports Aston Villa. Top lad. Deserves a knighthood, everyone seems to get it these days, especially in sports.
I wouldn't have included KP personally, he's been out of the England fold for a while now
I think you only say that because he didn't get a score today. He's been in very good form for Surrey. Right decision for me.
County cricket and international cricket is different, he's done well for us, well Surrey
Probably a bit over critical because of today,
Terrible shot - as I was saying last night: England have a tendency towards sloppy, ill-disciplined batting.
Handing this on a plate to a very average bowling attack.
We are in big trouble now
