Good news, Millwall didn't collapse in the 2011-12 season, actually finished with a flourish.
10 games in 23rd
20 games in 19th
30 games in 20th
40 games in 19th
46 games 16th
17 points from their last 7 games. Until that run they’d averaged a smidge over a point a game and would have ended the season in 21st on 47 points if that average had carried on.
Hopefully it was more of a Millwall problem than a management one.
Though of course, one of 'micks dross' was involved.

"It’s fine pointing at Southampton because they had back to back promotions but they were one of 24 teams going for promotion from L1 to the Champ and 21 of those teams failed that year, they were then one of 24 teams going for promotion from the Championship and 21 of those failed.
There are three success stories every year in the Championship and three each year in L1. The chances of a team being one of those 3/24 success stories two years running is far lower than the chances of bouncing straight back after relegation from the Prem. "
nice work on the stats but it got me thinking !
Southhampton, Norwich have recentley had back to back promo's so, does this carry any weight when it comes up against these stats ?
surely the euphoria of 'last years' promo would lift spirit within the camp and coming from League 1 would be like coming under the radar of 'bigger' clubs who had missed out on play offs/ promo in the precious year ?
what ya rekon ? or do you think it's a load of bo11ox and they just got lucky and were doomed for about the 10 years
Champo suits me anyway, getting to the Prem doesn't greatly bother me.
Before you guys get too carried away with auto promotion like some did with a 'guaranteed' Wembley appearance in the jpt, ask yourself what the chances are without Sako, Doyle and Griffiths.
I would say slim to get out of league 1and non existent to get into the prem.
You are going to have to develop your own kids into premier league players?
A big ask.
We have seen what we can do without Sako already, 6 pts and arguably our two best performances.
Doyle looks to be key to the style we are playing, though of course we won't be looking to him to score a bucket load of goals.
Griffo is likely the most important of the 3 as we will literally dry up in front of goal without him i fear.
Not so worried about developing the kids, we play in the top league in the unders categories so they face genuine talent, on top of that they are now getting good experience at our club rather than being loaned out to any random club to pick up totally different methods.
Remind us where Albion's kids are in the U21 league.

Except Liam McAlinden who will come back from Shrewsbury a much better player.
And then tell us where poor, can't compete with the big boys Wolves are.

So you think it would serve us better to loan out price, Evans, Doherty, Batth, Ismail etc etc when they are playing for us and growing with us?
Some may benefit. But the best overall benefit is surely to play for the team you are intended to fit into in the first place, not potentially go elsewhere and learn poor methods.
A no brainer surely.
Haha, it would take some brains hup, no danger here
There is almost a reversible bullying craze at the moment, some people are saying such silly things that they are hurting themselves beyond belief.
No need to bring WITTS into this, Cinic.
Ha, bute you do a fine job yourself.
I never met Shane knows? Before my time, or as I arrived he left.
Who was the other Wolfie then, i assume he is hup now. The one who would turn up occasionally talking about porches and pie.
Why is wolfgang tubby? he ate the entire southbank pie allocation before kick off.

Good question H&H. First off let me make it clear I’m not Mazi so I don’t have a magic spreadsheet stored on Wikileaks website that proves what is going to happen in the future.
No one knows what is going to happen but I like to think about what’s likely to happen and the best guide to that is often what has happened.
As you point out Norwich & Soton have recently achieved back to back promotions and Man City did it in 2000 so it is certainly possible. Is it likely?
In twenty years of the Premier League sixty teams will have been promoted from the third tier to the second and three have gone on to get a second promotion which would tell you it’s about a 20-1 shot.
So why have two done it so recently?
There are three answers I can think of:
1) Pure statistical anomaly. Chance. The chances of two 20-1 events happening quite close to each other wouldn’t be astronomical.
2) Something has changed in football. Has something changed that means back to back promotions are now more likely than they were? I can’t think of anything that has but I’m happy to listen to suggestions.
3) There was something unusual about the teams that did it. Well all three were big clbs for the third tier, and all three had had relatively recent top flight football so that must be an advantage over, for instance, a Yeovil and it’s something we share with all three. Maybe that gives us some hope?
........
I just hope we can get back soon tatts ! That's all......
Back to back 20-1's means it's unlikely though !!!
