I find it depressing when I think of all the people throughout the world who dedicate themselves and their entire lives to fantasy. I suppose for many people it's a source of comfort so I can't really have a problem with that. But I'd rather live my life without worrying what the man in the sky thinks about my actions.

It didn't do that, either, that's not how it was taught.
Like I said, they found it interesting. They've visited Islamic countries, too, (with us), and they asked a lot of questions, inspired by their studies.

It's a non-issue.
The more kids know about how other people live, and what they believe, the better.
Can't see any downside to it, at all.

I'll be interested to read this thread. Hopefully it goes big without turning into a racist slanging match of sorts.

I think forcing children to study anything outside the basic academic skills is wrong.

We should be teaching children more about the dangers of healthy eating, smoking, drug abuse etc etc before we start telling them about myths.

the EDL and other such organisations are as bad as the religious extremists, but without the holy texts you dont get the extremists, because its their interpretation of the text, even though some of it isnt even there to be interpreted, its Mandated
