While I understand the whole graphics thing I feel it's extremely overrated. I still play old pc games and games like fallout 3. And although fallout looked pretty amazing when released there is more to gaming than the graphical power.

It's just not necessary. There's nothing out right now that screams "in order to play my wonderfulness you need to buy ps4/One!"

I will be playing GTA:SA for a 3rd time when it comes out on Android this December. Quality of the game > GFX

Had this exact conversation with guys in my office. Nothing jumps out at me at the moment. If anything I'm glad I dont have one yet as it means I can pick up good ps3 games a tad cheaper.

thing's may change when watch dogs, mgs and dying light are released though.

Definitely. San Andreas is still up there although GTA V is amazing. San Andreas does test my PS2 a bit though. I still prefer PES 6 to any football game on PS3 and next-gen FIFA looks like it could've been achieved on PS3. Still got to get The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls amongst other games.

Watch Dogs is the one next-gen title that's really grabbed my attention so far.

It looks good but I bet they'll turn into their new cash cow now Assassin's Creed is dying off

Really worried about Watch Dogs being a flop. When has a delay ever been beneficial for any game ever?

MGS looks class though.

RtM- GTA V?

I agree with this, all the release date games seem quite underwhelming, and I already have AC4 for ps3.

The only game I liked the look of was Ryse but apparently that can be completed in 3 hours and has awfully repetitive gameplay. And even that is on the Xbox which I'm definitely not getting anyway.

If any of Destiny/Driveclub/The Order 1886/Deep Down were out on release I probably would have bought a ps4, and definitely would if MGS was out.

Red Dead Redemption was delayed a bit if I remember correctly. Only a month or so but still something, and look how that turned out.

Half Life 2 was delayed over a year as well. A delayed game doesn't necessarily mean a bad game.

The Last Guardian and TimeSplitters 4 if released will hopefully be brilliant delayed games. I'm confident The Last Guardian will be amazing. Not so much about Splitters, shooters have changed and the team behind it has changed a lot.

If true those are the exception to the lot and would make up maybe a fraction of a percentage. Its nearly guaranteed to be a failure when delayed. Most will say "maybe theyre adding more content" but this is never the case. All of the content will have been done by then and it will be about ironing out the bugs and possibly removing broken areas.

When the games I mentioned come out, I'll get a PS4. I agree games should be delayed if they have problems. Skyrim and Fallout:NV are examples of games that should have been delayed.

Ghost Recon an example of a total failure with a delay.

This is the exact reason i didnt buy day 1 - had this happen twice before with PS2 and 360. Thankfully GTA V and AC 4 on my PC saved me from needing to buy next gen just yet.

I agree games like FIFA and Forza look next genny vs the older versions but nothing jumped out and said you need to buy me quite like games like Titan Fall, Deep Down and Watch Dogs do.

Also the jump from this gen to next gen is pretty minimal when compared to SNES >> PS, PS1>>PS2 and PS2 >> PS3.

However, whenever i walk into a shop there is still that little voice telling me to buy one. I said i will hold out until the summer.................so i expect i will pick something up in Feb if not before!

I dont want to undermine the difference between this and last gen because it is obviously a decent jump in power and there is a lot more going on on screen because of it. Hopefully it also allows the programmers to make large games(when needed) without large loading times between areas.

I hate micro-purchasing.

Titanfall(cod with robots) and Watch Dogs(any city free roam game) look very same old same old.

Not really Fergie - its as RtM is saying. More things happening etc on screen that just wasnt possible before. If you asked me a few months ago i would have agreed. Having seen some more of the later video yes they look like games from similar genres now but just the higher FPS makes them look smoother and more stuff happening and can happen makes a big difference. Even just seeing FIFA live you can see a big difference, its one of those things like DVD, like Bluray in which you say "ah it looks the same" then you have it for a while and watch a DVD and you say "feck how did i live without bluray?"

Ok i cant really fault some of the points how they look and you can even argue that to a point Titanfall could be classed as a clone of BF2142 or Quakewars, but at the same time you couldnt do certain things on this gen (BF3/4 player limit) that you will be next.

I see what you're getting at and I agree with the notion that creativity seems to be disappearing throughout the console gaming industry. RPG's, RTS games, mystery solving games and games that don't involve mindless violence seem to be at an all time low. The mainstream is becoming so streamlined that I'm failing to find anything to be interested in. I have resorted to looking through older game catalogues and trying out games I may have missed out on.

I am really worried when the general batch is run n gun FPS, sandbox generic formula and sports is what makes the most money. Eventually there will be no consideration of making a game that doesn't follow tha basic formulas set before it.

I dunno RtM - yes you are correct that most AAA games seem to be FPSes etc that sell a $1 billion but that i feel does a disservice to games like Fez, Mine Craft, Terraria, and Dark Souls to name a few. I think these gems are just harder to find rather than the lack of them available. I would say me personally i am actually overwhelmed with the games available. Ok i have maybe got bored of football games and FPS as they have been over used over the last 20ish years and somewhat over saturated but still the new proper survival horror games are a totally new genre and things like Portal constantly pop up.

Graphics aren't everything you know. And FIFA? That game has been exactly the same for 10 years, it's as bad as COD. I don't want more flashy sht all over the screen, there's rubbish blockbuster films for that.

I'd rather devs put more time into the story writing and emotional side of games, reduce technical problems to an absolute minimum, and make games last longer than 15 hours. Ryse is a perfect example of what is wrong in gaming these days, it's all about being a visual showcase, instead of being a good game. From what I've read, the game is extremely short, the gameplay has no depth at all and the story is weak and cliche riddled like some lazy movie.
