Twas the night before Christmas, Old Trafford was bare.

Sounds more like the match day on a Sat at 3pm

Even on Xmas day and even about this subject? What a sc umbag
The cretin wouldn't dare do it on a Hillsborough thread.
Not sure if its the beer but that gave me a hell of a lot more than a damn lump in my throat, incredibly powerful stuff, thanks Arab.
Can I just say that I only read literally the first few lines of this poem. I've read the whole thing now and understand/know what the main subject was and I'm honestly sorry. I hope you wouldn't think I would say something like that had I knew the meaning.
Apologies for my ignorance
I admire the staff at United who helped the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey club after they lost there entire team in a Plane crash in 2011.
Despite decades separating the disasters and completely different sports, it was a touching gesture.
Whoever wrote this is a genius....after reading it I have this overwhelming sense of pride in my club, reminds me of the commentary in Moscow 08 after we won, the commentator said something along the lines of the spirits of the Babes were on the pitch spurring United to victory...definitely brought tears to the eyes.
Ironically, a week or so ago, I was reading about the 1958 Sheffield Wednesday FA Cup tie when the programme printed doesn't include a team sheet. Despite a patched up side United still went on to win 3-0.
This poem is very well put together, is very harrowing and describes the terrible circumstances with real passion.
...or perhaps it was the Wolves match.
