No, we apparently have £120m to spend why wouldn't we buy a striker?

Because we already have Rooney and RVP (and Welbeck, Hernandez, Wilson).

Get rid of 2 (welbeck & Rooney) bring in 1 (someone like Jackson Martinez)

Ooooooh Macca, what did you say?
It is going to be interesting how Rooney and RVP fit in with Van Gaal system, because I'll guarantee LVG will pick Van Persie as the CF, and he always plays 4-3-3 so that leaves Rooney out wide or in midfield or Van Gaal drops Mata
Macca don't get personal.

Does he always play 4-3-3 Mex? I read recently that he isn't rigid with formations and plays the best formation for the players at his disposal.
OK

He's always played 4-3-3 whenever I've seen his teams, he's even said in interviews that's his system
Rather than calling the op names, how about offering reasons as to why he is wrong. This place is a playground at times. Anyways OP, Rooney being sold is a possibility for this team to move forward, however i think it is a bad idea. One thing is for certain, he is not good enough or discipline enough to play on top on his own, therefore he might be played on the left. We all know last time he threw his toys out the pram when he was played in different positions, so be interesting to see what happens.

As I said someone posted an interview the other day where he said something along the lines of "I am not fixed to a formation, I play the formation that suits the players I have to hand." 2-3-2-3 at Barca I think and 4-2-3-1 elsewhere are definite's that I remember but there were other examples too.

I read that he is very flexible with his formations and that he has pretty much had different formations for each club he's managed.
I'm sure a manager who has managed at the top for around 20 years isn't going to overly strict in keeping the same formation, he will evolve his tactics and adapt them based on what he has.

Thanks manutd1982, you must have read the same thing I did
2-3-2-3 and 4-2-3-1 are very similar tbh, the 2-3-2-3 is all about creating lines across the pitch so he player on the ball always has 2 options to pass to when he's on the ball, it's how Liverpool play when they have the ball, the full backs push high up the pitch, 1 midfielder drops deep, making almost a 3 rd CB and the forwards push wide
