Well sh’it what a day that was.

In NZ the govt enacted a 4 level risk management system. Level 1 is just washing hands and limiting contact with others and level 4 is complete lockdown bar essential services. Until today we were at level 2, which basically meant try not to go out to public places if you can and large gatherings were banned.

So this morning the owner and i drew up a plan of what we were going to do at work to get ahead of this, we decided to be a level ahead of where the nation was so we wouldn’t be surprised by anything. These things included limiting the amount of people in the same room as one another, quarantining the other department entirely from us so if one group goes down the other can continue and doing split shifts in amongst a myriad of other things.

Today at 2 rolls around and the prime minister lifted us to level 3 immediately and will be at level 4 within 48 hours, which is complete lockdown, and will be at level 4 for 4 weeks minimum. So GF no longer has a job, luckily i work in the food production industry which is essential so I’m working right through but boy what a facking day that was and I’ve a feeling this month is going to be insane.

In slightly better news our landlord said we might be able to get a dog so that’s pretty cool.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have been split into shifts starting from today. They cut my hours and I have to now do two 12 hour shifts and a 6 hour one. With two and a half days off. They aren't paying me for the missing hours and yet idiot here has been logged in from home, as there are a load of things my guys can't do without me. Just logged off after the first panic came for them right away within the first hour of their shift. I can see this being a recurring theme.

Also I see a lockdown occurring within the week and I don't believe my company is classed as essential. We make equipment for people with disabilities. Feels essential to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s definitely essential TOOR. Would be ridiculous if they didn’t class you as essential

21 days lockdown starting midnight Thursday. Actually surprised how proactive our government has been during all this.

posted on 24/3/20

We’re 4 weeks. Of course as soon as the govt announced that everyone rushed out to the store to buy everything, putting themselves in close contact with so many other people.

Honestly people are idiots and if they just bought normally the shelves wouldn’t be empty.

Food stores are still going to be open for us so the government urged everyone not to panic buy and stockpile...however the human race is till very primitive despite what people may make you believe about technological advances.

The banking and telecommunications sector are still running as normal for us. And the usual health care and other public service sector.

The Rupert & Oppenheimer families have "donated" R1bn each to support the government and it's initiatives with relief funds in this time.

It's just all too good to be true lol

To be fair, £2.57 isn't going to do much.

Liquor stores have been deemed essential businesses. Medical marijuana dispensaries too, but the recreational dispensaries have to shut up shop today.

Drove by one last night and the queues were snaking around the parking lot

Bloody Bumbling Boris strikes again with a completely unclear statement. Obviously it was said in this way on purpose as he would have prepared the speech. So my wife is working from home, my son can't leave but I have to go to work. My wife has said she doesn't want me to go to work, even if it means I'll get £94.25 per week but that just isn't sustainable for us.

Also the British side are saying only travel to work if necessary and you can't work from home, yet Michelle O'Neill is saying only go to work if your work is essential, which includes construction workers.

I'm a "key worker" yet royal mail aren't acting like it, this week we have 5 door to door leaflets including a funeral home.. Parcels are like Christmas, we are delivering huge quantities of unnecessary luxury items.

My partner has health anxiety after a hospital nearly killed her 12 years ago, couldnt even come with me for mri scans on my back, nor the nerve block.. She's petrified at the idea of me getting it, and in particular her getting it.

But what do I do, I want to be there for society but the utter ballacks they are trying to make me deliver is stupid.

If it came under an "essential goods" umbrella I would be fine with it.

Yes - it makes sense that they make it only essentials items, reducing the risk of the workers.

My wife can't work and look after my son at the same time and yet I'm not allowed to bring him to my sister who looks after him when we're both at work and he isn't at school. So how do I go to work?
