Need to see if this Bobby form continues because he will be needed when AFCON. It might only be 2 games but still very crucial if we go toe to toe with City.

Also it seems South America teams have sneaked in 2 Late Jan/Early Feb fixtures but i think that's when we have our break,

Salah's form is making me think we can win the league.

Had us down as finishing 3rd at the start of the season. Long way to go ovbiously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I made a bold prediction that the title could be won, it's a side that is experienced and used to winning trophies and it's a squad well in their respective primes (in the main anyway) so that, for me, is a good reason to think that the title could be won.

People moan about the lack of investment, but other than maybe in attacking areas, the squad didn't need a £100m signing or anything of the sort. Having players return and getting the squad settled again was key for me.

Totally agree. I don't think we will win the league but we are perfectly capable of doing so.

Our big game record hasn't been to it's usual standard for around a year or so, at home or in Europe, so hopefully we can start to put that right with the two big games this week.

I think it might be too many draws that would cost the title, a bit like it was vs City back in 2018.

Even now, unbeaten in the league but still 2nd because Chelsea have won 1 more game. Better to lose 1 and win 1 than draw twice, especially in a game of fine margins as it will be at the top of the table undoubtedly.

If you look at things from a statistical point of view, if you were to take away those 6 home defeats last season, how many league games have been lost over the last 3 seasons? 3 or 4? I know you obviously can't take away those 6 defeats of course but if you were to take those as anomalies in this case. Point being the team don't look as if they will lose too many games, it's just dropping silly points like those at Brentford that may be the achilles heel.

Loved seeing Firmino get that predatory instinct back. I know Salah's goal was the moment of the match but I was almost more impressed with the Mane goal.

Wonderful, wonderful pass from Salah, didn't know he had that in his locker at all and the finish from Mane was sublime too.

Front three really do look like they're clicking again, especially Mane who has looked electric recently, his grafting finally starting to look top class again.

Salahs pass for the first was sublime, think Klopp said he was training on it over the summer

As for all the mane business that has been on here today, I'm happy to say I thought the usual knee jerkers were wrong and I'm happy he's proven it.

Yes I know, but over the course of the season I just think another 2/3 of them could just stack up which might be a stumbling block.

Critical to say it was a silly draw given Brentford seem a solid outfit this season but Chelsea went there and won in circumstances where they probably shouldn't have given the chances.

It will be a close run thing though, every reason to believe the title still can be won.

With the front 3/4 firing I think we are the team to beat. I had 2 concerns start of the season which were VVD fitness and Bobby & Mane form/goal output.

VVD even at 70% is still brilliant
Mane is almost back to his best
Bobby and Jota will rotate and produce it seems.

Only concern is the midfield injuries but so far Gini has not been missed.

Did anyone else notice that Bobby looks to have trimmed down a bit?

I can't see Chelsea thrashing too many teams either really so yes goal difference might be a factor although it doesn't usually tend to be the case, but I think it will only be decided by a couple of points.

As I say, my biggest worry is just dropping "silly" points at places like Brentford and if they just accumulate over the course of the season that might be the factor that works in favour of both City and/or Chelsea potentially.

But all 3 teams have faults though in some capacity. Will a lack of a "true" CF/goalscorer go against City over the course of the season and for as strong as Chelsea are, I still haven't seen them go on a crazy unbeaten run so far. In 24 PL games under Tuchel, Chelsea have managed 15 wins, 6 draws and 3 defeats. Ok, they weren't as strong last season but they've still yet to go a ridiculous 20+ games without a defeat. Seems like a bit of a ridiculous criticism of a team though and it kind of is but that might just be the fine margin that stops Chelsea winning it.

Chelsea's problem will be Lukaku again. We are basically seeing the Man U Lukaku. Always gets off to a decent start and then has dry patches. While he has these patches no one else is contributing. The way the team is set up they won't concede much goals but on Saturday they got out of jail big time.

They will go through a patch soon where they draw too many games.

I don't think it'll be a problem for them. They have enough goals in them without him firing and a defence that means that one goal will often be enough to win it. The fact they're still winning when not playing well is a bigger concern for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its working so far but its not sustainable. Mount is out of form and then the likes of Werner, Havertz, Ziyech are more miss than hit.

Pulisic is injury prone. Come back from injury and take a while, then looks good and then gets injured.

They will start to drop points IMO.

FSG had no choice. He has hit the prime Ronaldo/Messi standard.

If FSG have broken the wage structure (again) and gone to £400k then fair play to them.

I thought we may be looking at losing him.
