Not sure about a football match, would the players really be up for it under these circumstances, I’m not sure?
I like the idea of something more permanent, maybe a renaming of something, or some kind of prominent memorial??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think give it a few months for sure, maybe even preseason next year. You’re absolutely right, not the right time this preseason.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, I meant to say it could be a good idea for the future. Good chance that some kind of foundation will be set up in his name, tie it in with that maybe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I would wait for a suggestion from the family.

Still feeling sick about it this morning. It doesn't really make sense in some ways as I never even met the guy, but that's what the love of the club does to you. Feels like I have lost someone at least fairly close to me.
Its genuinely devastating and it's going to take a long time for everyone connected with the club to mourn and accept the situation to as Kash says.
I would shelve any transfer plans in terms of striker incomings in light of what's happened. Anything that remotely looks to be trying to replace Diogo so soon after would be really insensitive in my opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its a double edged sword unfortunately, whilst I agree with everything you said, the sad reality is that life goes on and we needed a striker either way.
But like you say that won't be a priority for at least a month or so and we should do our best to celebrate his memory, I think we should retire the shirt and do our best to support his family.

At the risk of being the insensitive one, I don't agree with the last paragraph.
Many years ago someone died where I worked at the time, guy committed suicide. I didn't know him that well, someone I would happily chat to but I wouldn't describe him as a friend. The people that were friends with him however were in pieces. Not just at the loss but the sense of guilt that nobody saw how much he was suffering beneath the surface.
His job was advertised within a week. It was brutal and jarring but ultimately, his job mattered and we needed someone to do it. Everyone understood.
Life goes on. Doesn't mean Jota is forgotten but his role for Liverpool mattered, it was important. Everyone will understand that.
